Manchester by the Sea Official Trailer 1 (2016) - Casey Affleck Movie

I've been waiting for this one. IMO Casey is a better actor than his brother.

We saw this today. I must say we were both a bit disappointed. It is far from a bad movie but it also far from an enjoyable film. Troubled characters tend to win over reviewers but often turn off the audience and this is Casey Affleck in this film. I won't spoil why Affleck's character is the way he is but it is a dramatic moment and the music associated with the scenes is wonderful. Although there is a continuous storyline in my mind it was almost a bunch of vignettes. Some funny, some sad, some unnecessary, some beautifully filmed. This film is not wrapped up with a tidy bow in the end.

Jim I couldn't't have said it any better. Simply put a very depressing movie and at times difficult to watch. I wanted to see it because of some Oscar buzz. For me a thumb's up but far from the Best Picture. He will get a nomination for Best Actor and the kid who played his teen age nephew (Lucas Hedges). Michelle Williams was excellent in her role

Worth seeing but not enough IMO to beat La La Land

We saw Manchester by the Sea yesterday. This was a powerful and moving film. Casey Afflek was excellent as was the rest of the cast.

Was not certain what to expect going in but it was even better than anticipated. Tragic story for sure.
