Have not yet heard the KOHAKU, but the Akiko is sublime.

My estimation is the KOHAKU surpasses the hype that the diamond-cantilevered Koetsus platinum stone bodies drew in our heads (though those carts themselves are rather remarkable as well).

Got mine installed yesterday. Although I have quite a few highend cartridges, Kohaku tops them all. This one piece diamond cantilever cartridge is really something special. If you have the chance to get one, do it quickly as most stock around the world was sold out already.
