I did not state a false fact. My point stands. If they buy the AG's with amps built in they are FORCED into that sound. End of story. 100% fact. Zero debate. #Truth
well….no. Not end of story. Not 100% fact . But in your case still probably zero debate. The fact is that you can also buy them with a switch (s-ecial order) that allows you to iTron them OR use your tube power mp. That way you can choose what you like best at home.

Hello Swen

I'm one of the people that doesn't have room nor suitable interior to install an enormous high fidelity alter, so therefore my inquiry is regarding the "mini"-model of the Masterpiece Series.

Are there more pictures of the mini-model and can you elaborate on which colours/veneer you can get them in? I live in Denmark so perhaps I could go to Germany for a visit.

Hello Lautreamont,

We are no longer based in Germany. There will be a separate thread about the Masterpiece Mini series in the coming days. I can gladly send you more pictures of the first pair via email. For further information, feel free to contact me personally. The email address and WhatsApp can be found on our homepage.

The dimensions of the Masterpiece Mini Edition are as follows:

- Height: 80.4 inches

- Depth: 43.7 inches

- Width (bottom): 29.6 inches

- Width (top, from WE66A): 41.7 inches

- Efficiency: 106 dB

- Crossover frequencies: 180 Hz / 1,800 Hz

- Frequency range: 23 Hz (-3dB) – 20 kHz

The Masterpiece Mini requires a minimum room width of approximately 150 inches.

Basically, we offer every speaker in any color that the customer desires, whether RAL colors or custom finishes. Furthermore, we also provide high gloss options. Therefore, there are no limits to the customer's wishes.

Best regards,
Swen

Hey Lautreamont.

Perso; a good idea to discover your personal musical (horn-)signature .....
Do it.
Allez, salukes.

Dear Carolus

Please elaborate since I do not quite understand your message even though it seems to have importance.

I do not know much about horn speakers other than the ones I have listened to. Most of them are extraordinary at conveying music more real than other systems. As an amateur musician I care about natural timbre of instruments and unfortunately a lot of systems sound like "hi-fi". I do not know what my personal preference is when it comes to horns.

I believe Carolus just wanted to convey to you that he really appreciates that you are embarking on a journey, gathering new experiences, and broadening your horizons. If I misinterpreted that, I apologize. However, since I have known Carolus from the Analog Forum for a long time and also know his system with WE66A, he will surely forgive me.

Best regards, Swen"

Sorry, I am confused. I don't believe I put words in your mouth. You stated them clearly and are now getting very defensive.

Yes, I am obviously an Avantgarde dealer. That is why I want to make it clear that people can choose to buy the speaker with a passive crossover. And then they can choose to use any amplifier they want. It doesn't bother me if someone likes tubes. I don't want people believing that they are forced to use iTron if they don't want to. This is the end of the story for me.
Are they either fully active or fully passive?
I run 300Bs on my TAD 4003 in cd horn from 600-20k and Powersoft below on dual midbasshorns and subhorns….

Hi Everyone,

I wanted to share something special today—the first completed pair of the HornSolutions Masterpiece Mini Series speakers have finally arrived, and I thought it might be helpful to give you a sense of what makes this pair of speakers so remarkable.

To start, I should mention that we are the North American importer for HornSolutions. Over the years, I’ve personally had more than 500 pairs of speakers pass through my reference listening rooms. My passion for exploring audio gear is exactly what inspired me to sell my other businesses and fully immerse myself in the world of high-end sound. But more importantly I just love live music.

The Masterpiece Mini is fascinating because it offers three different configurations, each catering to different tastes and system philosophies:

Fully Passive: Use a stereo amplifier or a pair of mono amps into the passive crossover.

Active with Integrated Amplification: Three-way amplifiers and built-in processing in each bass cabinet. Simply add a preamp and source.

External Processing (as I have chosen): The ultimate flexibility—an outboard processor/dac/preamp with your choice of amplification, requiring six channels of amplification per pair of speakers.

Despite the scale of the speakers, the installation is surprisingly straightforward. You’ll need 37-inch doorways to get them into the room. The bass section—housing two 16” drivers—weighs approximately 450 pounds per section, while the horn flange section comes in at 250 pounds per flange without drivers installed. Setup involves placing the bass section in your desired location and bolting the midrange horn flange on top of the bass section. Then you simply secure the midrange driver to the “dragon’s tail,” and finally suspend the tweeter with the supplied metal cables to the horn flange.

Where this system truly sets itself apart is in its efficiency, rated at approximately 108db. This staggering sensitivity means you don’t need enormous, exotic amplifiers to unlock true live dynamics in the home environment. Instead, you have the freedom to experiment with different amplification approaches, knowing the speakers will always respond with effortless scale and composure.

At the moment, I’m using a seven-channel amplifier (6 of the channels) to drive the tweeters, midrange, and bass drivers via an eight-channel DEQX Pre-8 processor with the last two channels reserved for subwoofers, though I’ll soon retire the subs—these speakers simply don’t require any additional low-frequency support. I was VERY fortunate to have a DEQX technician fly in from Australia to set up the system, and I can say without hesitation that this is among the top three speakers I have ever heard.

One of the qualities that struck me immediately was the combination of macrodynamics and microdynamics. Large-scale swings—kick drums, orchestral crescendos, electric bass—are delivered with a speed and impact that feel indistinguishable from live music. But just as impressive is the microdynamic shading: the tiniest variations in phrasing, breath, and texture are preserved with uncanny resolution.

Another area where the Masterpiece Mini exceeded my expectations was soundstage depth. Horn speakers are often celebrated for their immediacy and front-row presence, but this system goes further—it layers instruments far behind the plane of the speakers, producing a three-dimensional holographic stage that is simply captivating.

Coincidentally, the night before installation, I had attended a live concert in Toronto. The reference was fresh in my mind, and within minutes of powering up the Masterpiece Minis, it was clear that the system was reproducing not just sound, but the feeling of being at a live venue.

And I’m still only scratching the surface. My Aries Cerat amplifiers have yet to be installed, and I’m confident they will unlock another level of refinement. But even as it stands, after two weeks of living with this system, I can say with conviction: these speakers are going to remain in my reference room for a very, very long time. I honestly don’t see any direction to move from here—perhaps only the ongoing joy of pairing them with different amplifiers will keep me busy.

Please enjoy the pics I just posted.

Congratulations, Bob! They look fantastic!

Horns with that level of sensitivity offer a "jump factor" that nothing else can match!

Is the Avantgarde Duo Mezzo with wood veneer still being produced?

Yes. The Duo Mezzo G3 is a current production model and comes with a choice of several wood veneers.

Hi Everyone,

We are definitely hoping to be showing new Masterpiece Mini Series at Axpona in 2026. The problem is that we would not want to demo the speakers in a small hotel room and it is extremely difficult to get a decent size room at Axpona. Also the walls are very thin in a hotel and the acoustics are sad to bad LOL. I always say that when you listen to a system in a hotel room, take it with a grain of salt. You're certainly not listening to that equipment or that system in its optimum situation. I have great respect for all exhibitors at audio shows. It takes a huge amount of tenacity, time and experience to set up a system that is remotely musical at any of the shows. But we will certainly give it our best effort and see if Mark Freed from Axpona can find us an appropriate size room.

Stay tuned and within the next few weeks we should have some nice pictures of the Masterpiece Mini Series.
Cheers, Robert Neill
Robert, I feel you on the challenges of securing a suitable room at Axpona. In my view, a speaker of this caliber deserves their own private event venue, allowing them room to strut their stuff. Good luck with HS.

Hi Everyone,

I have been playing around with the Aries Cerat Kassandra Ref 2 DAC, Inakustik LS8005 pure silver speaker cables and new XES Class A amplifiers on the Masterpiece Mini series. Truthfully it's been the most fun I've had in many years. This combination took the system to a 3D level with lifelike dynamics.
