Good Sunday Evening All,

I am curious. Has anyone done experiments with converting hi rez digital to 2 track reel to reel tape? If so, what were your conclusions? Thanks all.

Phase One recording and mastering studios in Toronto use that process as their "secret sauce" regularly.
But then, it's back to digital again for CD production.
How would I know?
My niece's (Emma-Lee) latest CD was mastered there.
When I asked her why not record all analogue to start with, the answer was "too expensive".
Her CD is "Backseat Heroine".

Hello Links,

Thanks for chiming in on this. Actually, I will be visiting a gentleman who regularly records classical music concerts using a digital process. He uses a portable digital recording machine (I don't know the model) to record these orchestral and choral concerts. He will transfer several concerts onto reel to reel tape. I am more than ready to hear what that will sound like. I wonder will it have the glassy edge I hear in many CD's, even the so called hi rez CD's. Thanks again.

jazzbo :)
