Baz Luhrmann has an unusual sensibility.

I remember watching "Moulin Rouge". I started out thinking "What a stupid movie". As I watched, I became more interested. By the end, I realized it had gained operatic intensity and I was charmed.

I can never remember that exact sequence of feelings while watching a movie before.
