Thank you for these wonderful posts! A question, which would be the power amp of choice to drive a 91dB loudspeaker, the 2211 or the atm-2 plus?

How does one change the input power voltage be change from europe 230v to 120v?

I heard these in an all Airtight system with an SME table and Devore 0/96 speakers. Magical sound.

FWIW, I'll share the response to a fax to Airtight, which was the only way to get any info on this question of converting their amp to a different voltage. I'll note that the 2211 amp literally shows 120V/230V/240V and 50Hz/60Hz on the back panel, setting the expectation that changing voltage is possible/easy.

As for source power voltage, our products are made to each specific region to comply with local rules and regulations, and source power voltage can not be changed after shipment.

We do not offer any service to change product rated power voltage after shipment for new and 2nd hand products.“

I don’t think they use different power transformers for different voltages. They most probably use the same double primary transformer which can be wired parallel or serial depending on the AC rating of the market. When you open the bottom panel you should see something like this.


As you can see there are two primaries. For 230V they’re connected in series you need to reconnect them in parallel for 120V. But be careful one’ s outer turn end should be connected to other’s inner turn end.

This kind of wiring connection is much more easy. Maybe inside of Air Tight is like this. Ask help from a technician who’s familiar with transformers. It’s a piece of cake for them.

If I had the amps I'd definitely try and tackle this.
Unfortunately, the amps are in Germany. I was negotiating a purchase with the seller and we both thought the conversion would be straightforward and support by Airtight. But, alas that's not the case. The seller was unwilling to remove the casework to inspect, so the sale is limited to the EU. Bummer
