I find this quote rather interesting:

An Ionic Original is the pinnacle of recorded sound. It is archival quality. It is future proof. It is one of one. Not only is an Ionic Original the equivalent of a painting, it is a painting. It is lacquer painted onto an aluminum disc, with a spiral etched into it by music. This painting, however, has the additional quality of containing that music, which can be heard by putting a stylus into the spiral and spinning it.
When describing the quality that raises analogue sound above digital sound, the word “warmth” is often used. Analogue sound has more depth, more harmonic complexity, more resonance, better imaging. Analogue has more feel, more character, more touch. Digital sound is frozen. Analogue sound is alive.

If the technology can make Bob Dylans screechy voice sound warm, i am all for it ! ;)

Maybe they are resurrecting the wax cylinder.

The quote "It is one of one" makes me think this might be some sort of musical version of a non-fungible token. If that's the case, I hope it falls off the earth as quickly as it got here. Can't wait for the snake-oil salesmen to market products for it that will make it sound even better!

Maybe its an 8 track tape?

It sounds like an aluminum platter with a lacquer interior. Maybe he feels lacquer sounds better than vinyl.

Sounds like a neoclassic NFT grift to me.

Digital sound is frozen. Analogue sound is alive.

Sorry, this made me laugh out loud.

But hey, it's true in a sense. The sound at the output of a DAC is analog. You can't listen to 0s and 1s, they are frozen. There you have it.

Marty, I very much enjoyed the report of the NFT of the very first Tweet bought for $2.9m last year and sold at a 99.999% loss just recently.

T-Bone has fashioned himself as innovative in this arena before. Dare I say the market for Elton John and Bob Dylan is not large enough to expand into an entire new way of experiencing music by themselves. ;)

????

Guessing what will be the next out Ironic Original pressing… I’m going for Dire Straights’ Money for Nothing
