Review: Lampizator Horizon (vs Pacific 2 & Golden Atlantic TRP3)

Great review Keith! You have a top level system for years to come. What is the empty plug visible next to your LDMS two pics above? Just curious. And are the output tube types interchangeable between TRP and Horizon? That would make sense. Enjoy! Charles

Lampizator Valve / Tube Rolling Review Thread

Beautiful ! Have you tried good ol’ Tak 274b? Or RK5u4G? Can’t go wrong with either. The most important aspect of the recti is lowest noise IMO- and these both fit the bill in my experience, Also, have you noise tested the pt14 quad? - I suggest experiment with different tube positions for...

I’m really glad you’re enjoying the PT14s. . I’ll add another comment on these. The quad I purchased test NOS according to the person I purchased them from. They came with original boxes and appeared to be possibly true NOS tubes. In other words, it is possible that I was the first one to...

Stock First Watt F4: Complete Distortion Measurements?

Have you seen the 6moons review? It has some distortion measurements. http://www.6moons.com/audioreviews/firstwatt6/f4.html Seems like a fine match to me- how does it sound?

Lampizator Valve / Tube Rolling Review Thread

More babies -PT14 I just had to have another quad of these. These are even better at initial testing for noise vs my other quad- quiet, quiet, shhh, Quieter than among all we300b, KR242. RK242,, RKPX25 , we101f, etc. I still have those in the bullpen btw- but for now that is where they will...

Lampizator Valve / Tube Rolling Review Thread

Yes I have heard - on my list. Just to follow up- PT 14s are da’bomb! These tubes provide a combination of dynamics of 242 and organics of 300 B which I have not experienced before. To quote @2ndLiner who I was fortunate enough to buy adapters from: Me too, Charles, I find them to have the...

Lampizator Valve / Tube Rolling Review Thread

As @keithc said the adapters are from the same TP manufacturer in Hungary. I have the TP adapters on tap next -but first I will get another quad of these because they are great tubes! I don’t know if you are running balanced or not, but the advantage I have found with balanced Lampi is that...

    Lampizator questions.

I did this quick last nite- sorry. If you don’t have a dac with integrated upnp renderer capability over usb - which the GG doesn’t -and you don’t plan on a streamer box , you will need to figure that in. Typically, this means a small fanless mini pc that you can place behind your DAC...

    Lampizator questions.

You can run it single ended without problems but if you have a single ended system, and you don’t plan to ever go balanced, then you should buy a single ended version- they are purpose-built. For streaming - it depends on what you want to do- you can build your own or buy a streamer box-options...

Lampizator Valve / Tube Rolling Review Thread

New toys- PT14 Might have finally found my “best“ on PX4 heater setting. Just initially evaluating- nice and open and punchy -similar to 242. Very quiet (close to ambient) in my max volume-no-signal noise testing- very nice. Gain is PX25ish. Thanks so much to @keithc and @2ndLiner for...

Currently using new issue WE 300b. Also KR242, RK KR242 , and KR RK PX 25s. You can’t go wrong with either of these in my experience. They are just different flavors of the same good sauce ;) Following that, try OS tubes like 112a, 01a (easier to find ) and WE101fa. if you can find them...

Lampizator Valve / Tube Rolling Review Thread

Hi Christoph, It‘s not that I am missing anything really. It’s a quest I guess and it’s fun. I would like to have a best-of stable of quads, one per each position on the heater dial. The AD1 seems a candidate for the PX4 setting, but opinions seemed mixed on it. Any other suggestions? I would...

Lampizator Valve / Tube Rolling Review Thread

Dang. So I just emailed Rob at LampiNA today and asked about available tubes and he told me he had EML pX4 available….and they were great. Just FYI, maybe they are. Goran thought they were boring. -search… I have no experience with them (EML PX4) Right now I like RK PX25. WE 300b, and RK or...

Lampizator Valve / Tube Rolling Review Thread

Yes - my thinking also. For a bargain it would be nice to try, but paying premium for supposed NOS quad is a big risk. In the first post of this thread Justin was using the EML AD1 and for the first several pages singing its praises. Then, as the thread goes on it doesn’t seem like there is...

Lampizator Valve / Tube Rolling Review Thread

I have been rolling back and forth a bit with DHTs. Have on hand KR242, RK242, RK PX25, and WE 300b reissues. The KR242s have been in for the last several mos as my reference, with occasional switch-off to RK242 just for comparison. I recently took the KR242 out and rolled in RKPX25- these...

Mass order of KR242 from KR Audio

Still waiting…. I emailed and received a response in May from Lukasz that I was ”in the queue “ and haven’t heard anything since. I emailed again in August and no response. I haven’t even heard of the PT14 being used. Guess I need to do some research.

Are top-loading CD transports better than front loading?

Assuming this is true: “Less mechanical resonance translates to more bit perfect and less interpolated output.”…. Then shouldn’t a non compressed file played from memory be the best of all?

Rectifier considerations: Now with the KR242s I have been recti rolling. I have on hand the USAF596, RK Anniversary 5u4g, the National Union JAN VT-244, Tak 274b, and the stock Russian 5u3c. Currently the Tak274b is in the pole position. Am also considering Elrog 5u4g and Elrog 274b.

Lampizator Big 7 mk2 - upgrade tubes or move to Pacific or Technics?

You said you were only using the factory tubes in the B7 MK2? I would definitely roll tubes and try. There are lots of good ideas in the Lampizator Tube rolling thread. 242s either KR or RK, and the RK 5u4g rectifier would be a good start. There are also cheaper NOS options via eBay as well.
