The LTA gear is truly incredibly revealing... I have been auditioning a Z40+ Integrated recently and it is amazing. I'm just surprised that these two very different dacs sound so similar to you... that wasn't my experience even with less revealing gear.
A few years ago, I went from a Chord Qutest w/ LPS -> Holo May L2 -> Wells Audio Cipher -> Lampizator TRP2 in the span of probably about 6 months. I still have the TRP2, which says a lot! Each step in the upgrade chain was a big one, but the TRP 2 was most revelatory, particularly with rolled...
For what its worth, my own experience with Echole cables (purchased because I also have an Absolare integrated) was that they were good but over-rated. I had an Omnia XLR interconnect pair that ultimately was less satisfying (in my system) than a much less expensive pair of Black Cat Setsuna...
More sloppy naming conventions from Lampizator for the Atlantic? In my recollection, there was the Atlantic, then the TRP 2 was really the first TRP (which had engine 53), while TRP 3 is the latest (has engine 11). I remember having to sort out some of this confusion (because of conflicting...
From this above-linked review: "BTW, I only write about what I absolutely love and would recommend 100% so the companies I speak of deserve the attention." This kind of reviewing stance is wonderful for manufacturers and dealers, not so great for everyday consumers, in my opinion. A truly...
I've had the upgraded power supply for my LDMS server/streamer for about a week now. After a few days of burning-in, the sound it makes is better across the board. Maybe more "clear" and "dimensional" if I had to be subjective about it. Well worth the investment in my opinion.
Single Ended. I'm using the PV2000/6000 (or whatever its called) right now. No strong preference between this one and other recent tubes I've used; absolutely no complaints, though.
I have enjoyed an LDMS server/streamer w/ LPS for about 3 years now, I think, having talked to Lucas after reading some glowing recommendations on these forums. I think it would probably classify as a 'minimax' today, but back then it wasn't called that (and was cheaper too). It outputs only...
That must be a recent change in gear for MoFi, then. In August '22 TAS interview, MoFi said: "Any title cut from DSD64 was captured from 2011 to January 2014, using the Meitner A/D. When better technology became available, we upgraded to the Merging Technologies Horus A/D which captures in...
To my ear, the Hertz dac/integrated amp are not at the same level as the speakers. I auditioned the Maria with the M7s in my home and was not impressed, relative to my Absolare. Since Levinson insists that they be used together as a 'system' with his bare wire speaker cables, this may account...
I did not ask this question directly from the local dealer who now carries the line, but no explanation was offered either... It is an interesting one.
I had not auditioned the VOTU. I don't think I've ever heard of a pair being used in the USA. With my LS5/5s, I had to purchase them without an audition based on the location of the dealership and the general demand for them, and I would not have been willing to do that again with another...
Dealer has M1s, which are $150k and sound extraordinary, and two smaller standmounts, one with horn tweeter and one with ribbon tweeter. Smaller one with horn, the Maxx, sounded VERY good too. Didn’t hear the ribbon one…
The dealer is located in Santa Rosa, CA. Soundstage is exceptional, excellent even standing and immersive anywhere in the room. Imaging is realistic. Live music is just spine tingling.
I recently sold my Graham Audio LS5/5s with the intention of replacing them with speakers that scale larger for my large listening area, and are more dynamic and immediate-sounding, hopeful not to sacrifice the beautiful coherence and tone of the Grahams.
I was fortunate to be able to...
Sorry, I can't recall that. Made the change a few months ago. Message me directly if you'd be interested in purchasing the Laboga Sapphire USB to try out.
I have same setup. I think I ended up putting a screwdriver down into the sockets on the adapters to create more space for the pins. Worked great and they don't stick up anymore.
Purchased the standard SilentSwitch from Ediscreation on tip from this forum, received it yesterday, popped it into my system replacing a standard d-link switch, and I'd fully agree with the above description. One of my favorite high-value upgrades!
