I use Otari MTR 10's and 12's fully restored and modified by Soren, in Indiana. I know at least one other person using Otari's as well and at least one person who use MCI's. Not the Mara Machines.
I also use TASCAM 44ob's when I am doing 7 1/2 IPS 1/4 track duplication. Also restored and...
I know Christophe from the time we spent together working with RTM tape. A great guy and I have told him that I would be happy to help him set tech support in North America when and if he starts selling his machines here. I know most of the great tech's across the country.
If you still need a tech for you Studer in LA, contact Charlie Bolois, at Vertigo Recording Services. He is in the LA area and has been working on Studer's and other studio gear for years.
Most of the good tech's that I know will work on different types of pro level tape machines as well as consoles and components. What they don't want to work on are entry level 50 year old consumer tape machines. There are a couple of them who are very selective about which pro level gear they...
From what I heard, Doc walked away from the Nagra service deal. I have no idea why. I use to know a couple of people down at Trew Audio, but that was years ago, when they kind of walked away from the Nagra service business. Back in the 1990's I knew people in LA, Chicago, and New York who...
Try contacting Soren at CS Electronics in Valpo, IN. His phone is 773-532*--3527. He is an excellent tech when it comes to tape machines. Works on a lot of pro level machines.
I want to thank both of you for your comments. I agree basically with everything that has been commented on. Regarding, opening up the recording with the treble, we copy directly from master tape through a Studer distribution amplifier to the duplication tape decks. I idea being that, the...
Hello, we are releasing the Big John Wrencher, Maxwell Street Alley Blues. I will post additional details tomorrow about the history of the album. Pre-order pricing is $99.00 for the 1/4 track and $250.00 for the 2 track 2 tape version. These are from RMGI not Delmark. You can message me if...
Hello Sunan,

No we have not done any 1/2" dubs so far. I will be with the people from Delmark for the next three days at Axpona, so I will discuss it with them at the show.
Sorry, I didn't answer one of your questions. No, the original masters were on 1/4" tape. So the safety that was made for the dubs was done from 1/4" to 1/4".
HI Sam,
Yes, I was the original for RMGI. Before that we distributed the BASF/EMTEC line of products before they went out of business. Since then the I have been the North America Distriburor for RMGI, Pyral and RTM until RTM decided to take over direct distribution in North America. A fine...
I am doing the duplication for Delmark and I will be dropping off a few reels to them at the Axpona show in Chicago tomorrow. Can you PM me some details and I will try to figure out why this happened. Sorry of the inconvenience you experienced.
Don

Thanks Larry, Yes Soren is very talented. It's great to have him close to me. When my office & warehouse was located in Indiana, he was only about 30 minutes away. I moved the office to about 75 miles SW of Chicago the first of the year, but I still go over to our second home in Michigan...
I own a few. A couple of cassette decks, that I just picked up a couple of weeks a in a package deal where I was only interested in the amps. Plus a few Reel to Reels, 8 Otari MTR 10's, 4 of them completely rehabbed and 4 more waiting to go in. Also, a Otari MTR 12 1/2" completely rehabbed...
