It's interesting because I've had a similar comparison with the Synergistic USB in a client's system, but when I got back home to my system, the Platinum Starlight exhibited none of the issues we found in his system. The client had an almost full loom of Synergistic cables whereas my system was...
I don't enjoy tooting my own horn, but I'm quite proud of my performance at AXPONA this year and received my first 'Best of' award for a big show. I didn't get many reviewers in the room but got GREAT feedback from those that did. I know I'm currently a small player in this world so getting...
No joke. A few years ago I went to Seattle with my wife and stayed at one of her friend’s parents’ house. It was shocking to see how little seven figures could get you up there.
Might sound crazy but a small town like Waco, TX could be a gold mine for the gear head. It’s just south of Dallas and a few hours from Austin, Houston, and San Antonio. We have a strong used market and a strong vintage crowd as well. Land is cheap and houses are big.
All I can think about is Reverb machines now. Then you had the multitude of digital sound enhancements in the early 90s receivers. Seems though these types of products fit the mold but did these cultural phenomenons really influence major component design? Seems it’s always been driven by...
The thing is detail is not determined by that upper midrange hump. It’s throughout the frequency range but we seem to pick up on it better when it calls attention to itself. Once you equate that hump to the final say in detail it is extremely hard to break from it.
I am selling a clients pair of Rosso Fiorentino Siena for him and while at the lower end of your budget at $13k, they are definitely worth consideration.
Stock SDA are forgettable to me. I’ve never complained about their tone but understand the veil and muddy aspect. Like any speaker though (especially those built to lower price points) upgrades completely transform them. I’ve heard a highly modified pair of 2.3tl pre and post mods and the...
HiFi sound to me is one that has a notch in the upper midrange that gives emphasis on details and dynamic passages - that ‘leading edge’ so many talk about. I’ve never heard this edge in performances but it is prevalent in the hobby.
I’ve come to respect Rosso Fiorentino more and more as they...

I don’t know them but I am the new US distributor for Norma and they have some special sauce in their solid state. They are probably the best kept secret in the North American market. I actually wasn’t interested in working with them initially but then I...
I've been a high powered SE fanatic since getting my first 845 amplifiers years ago. I've never found these to be lacking in terms of anything except possibly control, but as you go up the quality chain this improves dramatically. I've only had two SS amplifiers really move me: T+A and Norma...
Usher is releasing the SD-500 that will incorporate their $900/pr Diamond tweeters and a 5" woofer. Retail is going to be $1,950. I suspect these will be huge values.
I am glad you are not getting the Paradigms. I heard them at CEDIA a few years ago and didn't have an unpleasant experience but definitely did not find anything to brag about either. I couldn't justify their price tag and the incessant bragging about the "first ever all Be speaker" frustrated...
