I’ve had zero issues and because of that have not run any diagnostics. I also have fiddled with OC but am not doing any of that currently.
I will say the 5xxx series do look tempting but I’m already shredding anything I do on this PC so I don’t see the need to replace the 3900x anytime soon...
Interesting to see a post as I was just thinking of this thread. I upgraded the card to the RTX 3090 Founders Edition and its stunning on the dell monitor. The ray tracing is gorgeous on games that implement t it well and games are buttery smooth now. I’m very happy with this purchase.
Yesterday I found a prime example in the price range the wife was ok with. I drove a 2020 when I was in Denver on Labor Day and while the Porsche Cayenne turbo was high on my list, I’m quite happy and think this will be much cheaper to maintain. It’s almost 10 years old now, but it only has 80k...
I do not recall. It was quite an eclectic mix of gear that I was largely unfamiliar with and while this usually entrances me, I was in the 'unbox and setup' mode my entire visit.
On a positive note, my own demo pair are en route right now. I'm truly excited about this one... Brown Tejus Leather
it’s a third vehicle for personal driving and date nights, not a replacement. I’m not that dense. The requirement I do have on myself is that it has four doors. If an emergency does arise and it’s needed I would still be able to pick kids up etc.
North Star DAC's were exceptional values and made Sabre chips sound like nobody else I've heard. They were musical and engaging with weighted images that expanded well beyond the speakers. They were never 'true' end game, but their top dac topped out at $3,000 and for those prices they were...
The daily is a work/family vehicle. With four kids and a fifth on the way a bus is about the only way to go.
The 2004 I am looking at has just over 80k and the last owner (of 2) had it for 14 years. He serviced it at Porsche regularly during that time as well. It looks immaculate and I'm...
I’d be interested in what others are driving. I have a 2013 JX35 that the wife drives since we sold her car. My daily driver is now a 2001 Chevy Explorer Conversion van and I’ve grown quite tired of driving a boat about town. My eyes have been towards a performance suv like a 2004 Cayenne Turbo...
It never was an issue. The issue you heard was a result of me being naive enough to think I could make those work in either space the Embassy Suites had. The conference room was horrendous and has perrennially bad sound and throwing them in a concrete tomb was an improvement but far from...
Thanks for the follow up. You are correct. I don’t think I ever asked about the analog as that doesn’t fall in my realm - I’m a committed digital guy.
There are several custom pieces in the system including cabling.
Recently I loaded up the SUV and went on a road trip to deliver a pair of these in a Copper finish. It was definitely a world class setup and I thought members here might like to see the room.
The room was built solely for two channel audio. Each wall is loaded with mechanical grounding via...
Some things that come to mind for me:
1. I've never hear a PC-based system wow me. Perhaps I haven't heard the right one yet.
2. Any time I have played with DSP in my system, the soundstage simply collapses on itself. I do see benefits in certain systems, but at SOTA, I also believe a well...
I’ll provide three of the top pairings I’ve heard:
1. CH Precision and Stenheim. I heard this combo last weekend at a friends house and it was superb.
2. Norma Audio and Rosso Fiorentino. This combo is affordable and goes toe to toe with anything I’ve heard.
3. T+A PA1530R and, believe it or...
I had an amr cd-777 for a while and it was a very good unit. I’m sorry you’re having issues with your dac. I tried the original chord Hugo and was a fan of what it did as well, but it didn’t sit well in my configured system.
Within your price range new falls the Norma DS-1 which has changed my...
I have the XS Max and like it, but I recently got soured by Apple. The aftermarket cord I had been using for six months 'decided' one day to no longer be an acceptable accessory. I had bought it because I needed extra length. This extreme monopoly they place on their items is getting...
The GeForce cards only get an update every two years. I find that to be rather long in the computing world. The RTX 2xxx series was released around this time in 2018.
For those who follow graphics cards, the information on the RTX 3XXX series has come out. The 3070 should be identical in performance to the current top card, the 2080 Ti, for $599, which is less than half the cost of the 2080 Ti. The 3090 is being reported to have a whopping 24 GB of GDDR6X...
We had a request to match a blue wall with the Elba 2 in a leather finish. I think they got it as good as it could get...
Even on the Elba, custom finishes are welcomed.
Yet another rave review - this time it almost ended in a reviewer purchase. I can't stress enough how good these are at even twice their price. Texture at the right frequencies, wide and deep soundstage, full bodied images, and the ability to truly reach out in front of the speakers and wrap...
It looks like the new 30xx series will be announced in a month or two. I like the 5700xt better now as it can serve as a placeholder for a 3070 or 3080.
I struggled with a 34” 144 vs the 38” 60 I got. I still think I made the right decision but sometimes I do wonder What a 144 would bring to the table. Usually when I build a computer I have some buyers remorse over this component or that one. The only thing I can point at is the 5600xt, but I...
So after owning and loving this monitor for a year, I decided to go ahead and build a PC to run it effectively as my Yoga 910 Laptop had some minor issues. It's been on my mind since I got the monitor and the time was finally right. The build is as follows:
AMD Ryzen 9 3900X CPU
ASUS X570 TUF...
For something more modern and easily trackable - Chocolate Chip Trip by Tool
You can easily track width. The first minute or so of the song showcases depth with noises that dance around the soundstage. At about 1:35 into the song, a bass line starts in the front right of the room and, if your...
Yes. AURALiC are great products and not being a dealer won't change my feelings towards that. Their house DAC 'sound' is not my cup of tea but I did sell many of the Aries Mini and Aries. All the AURALiC products (including the Aries G1 I had) have a slight digital edge that really showed...
The native app for both products should sound better than Roon so consider that. As for the brands, I was not happy when auralic wiped out all their smaller dealers like me in the US, but I then got on the Lumin train. If WiFi isn’t a need, Lumin is superior in every way from my experience. The...
