    floating speaker cables.....on the cheap

Those look interesting... How do you like them? Have you tried out different solutions? I'm currently considering some different footers including making my own, but it's really not a trivial undertaking.

    floating speaker cables.....on the cheap

Nice! Good idea with the towel racks. I'm sure you could've found an audiophile alternative for a couple orders of magnitude more $.... I know they're massive... but now decouple your speakers! :p

Furutech NCF AC Plugs: Gold vs Rhodium Reviewed!

Nice! Not many are willing to do what it takes to mount new IECs, RCA jacks, etc. in component chassis but it does make a big difference.

Furutech NCF AC Plugs: Gold vs Rhodium Reviewed!

Yeah, I'd go FI-48 so you get the NCF material. I think the only thing you don't get with the FI-48 is the carbon fiber, which will save you a little over $100. Personally, I'd go with the top-end FI-50 NCF if the extra $100 isn't an issue.

    My New Grocery-Getter

I'm sure it can, but I'm not sure I'll ever try it. I can wheelie my mt bikes poorly, maybe 5-6 pedal strokes. The Turbo Vado is pretty heavy and has long chainstays but the extra power would make up for it... It is a lot of fun though, and a nice change from driving. It's surprising how...

    best cost no object, cables

Or a cheap amp, or a cheap DAC, or... But audio systems are a system and if you ignore ANY part of it the results will be suboptimal. This forum is about finding OPTIMAL, not just "this seems pretty good! ".

UFO plunges into the water while being tracked

I doubt they'd give us a high probability we won't destroy ourselves first. But I think they'd still watch, if so I don't think UFOs are actually manned, seems much more likely they are just drones. We could be one of hundreds of known planets with evolving life they're watching...

    best cost no object, cables

You could say that about literally any piece of audio gear. People say it about amps, DACs, etc all the time. I could put (and have put) my Crown Drivecore amp I got for $150 and use for woofers in place of any high-end amp and the result will still be just fine if not good in most cases. I...

UFO plunges into the water while being tracked

If there's UFOs they are looking at us like we'd look at a group of apes on an undiscovered island just starting to use tools. Interesting, but we'd never engage with them as equals. IMO, we have a way to go until any ET life that has the capability to find and/or visit us would actually want to...

    My New Grocery-Getter

Thanks! I've run Specialized Armadillo tires on my town bike for the last ~20 years, never got a flat. The Pathfinder Sport tires on this bike are really nice semi-slicks in 27.5 x 2.3. About half of the bike paths in the area are crushed gravel, the tires work great on this surface as well as...

    My New Grocery-Getter

I've been considering the purchase of a small car, possibly an EV, to do some errands around town. I just got an ebike, a Specialized Turbo Vado 4, and thought I'd share it here as it's a great alternative to a car for some uses. I live in Boulder County, CO, which is on the Front Range and...

What Car Models and Brands Made Today Do Not Feel Like Playing a Video Game?

I'd go for one of the new Caddy Blackwings or a Camaro. You can get them with manual transmissions and you can turn all of the nannies off. They also have 5 or so levels of driver assist for those not ready to turn it all off. One of the last V8/manual cars that will be manufactured I'd bet...

    KeithR's "Dream Speaker" Search

What you might think is "SET Sound" may be something completely unrelated to the character of the tube and output tranny it's self. IMO, the driver makes more of a difference than the actually SET amp... this is why my amp has a totally separate voltage gain/driver section in it's own chassis...

    KeithR's "Dream Speaker" Search

Yes, I agree it's seamless and in many cases better than a separate tweeter. For many folks a good FR is better w/o a tweeter. I've owned BD3 and my own wideband driver hits 15 kHz fairly smoothly and does extend to 20 kHz. Feastrex also makes some FR drivers with very nice highs. However, a...

    KeithR's "Dream Speaker" Search

IMO/IME there's no possible way a single driver can produce accurate highs past ~12 kHz.
