Alexx V arrive in NJ

As Ian said. I have heard both amps at his house, and while the CATs were really good in the bass, the CH M1.1s are better. Great articulation and pitch definition in the bass. Great grip and authority, the latter making good use of the three 10 inch woofers of each M Project speaker. Low piano notes are fantastic too.

All at zero feedback.
compared to what? it's ALL about one's reference.

Dear Al,

Which amplifier did you prefer overall, not in discrete audiophile sonic attribute terms, but in terms of being more emotionally engaging and achieving a greater suspension of disbelief?

I do wonder whether there might happen to be a big difference between CH stereo and monos in bass control. I have heard this observation about bass from 1 or 2 others who have heard both CH 1.1 series stereo and monos before. Apparently going mono made a difference to both of these individuals.
I can't speak to the differences between a stereo vs mono CH product. I just want to clarify that I've only heard (and own) the monos.

Compared to the best bass I have heard on other systems, and compared to live music (in particular the reference to piano).

Dear Ron,

the Ch Precision monoblocks. More liveliness of presentation, at least on these speakers, which is all important to me for emotional engagement. In terms of timbral accuracy, important to achieve greater suspension of disbelief, I'd say it might be a toss up, not sure.

We should all hook up at an event to establish A reference. Probably reduce arguments talking apples to apples.

Fat chance. I sat with friends in the concert hall, next to one another, and even though we heard practically the same sound, we sometimes disagreed on the character of it.

There is no Absolute Reference. Everything gets filtered through personal perception right away. Add to that other variables, and you have the typical audiophile disagreement of 4 people having 5 different opinions.

Having said that, I do agree with some audiophiles about what we are hearing a lot of the time, with others, not so much.

Western Electric horns versus Magicos. Let's pick an objective victor.

I believe Ked has hacked my account Lol.

Can we still catch the Stones tour? ;)
Billy Joel at the Garden also works as he is there monthly in perpetuity!
(Both are probably more suited as potential references for public sound reinforcement systems, not home systems, but they sure would be fun.)

obviously not the real world. even if we all listen to something, unlikely we would agree as a reference. some might.

but if we are a group that respects listening perspectives, then when someone says this is what he heard, then one possibility is that they heard it. and when it's Marty, it's more than a possibility.

he has his reference. and expectations.

You don't agree but understand his biases. Now if he describes a component, you have a better understanding how it sounds.

The world is filled with reference systems. Just ask their owners :D

As Mike just astutely stated it would be a difficult task
