Yes, i had Elrog 274b but unfortunatelly had to return brand new tubes as they both had issue with filament (can’t remember the term now but upon warming up they both produced high pitch noise which was very unpleasant)...TM was kind and proffesional to return the funds so all in all unsuccessful trial at least on my end.

thanks for the kind words. It is still not clear what caused the issue at your end, in the meantime we have supplied quite a few ER274B to Lampi users without the same problem.

Correct! Our ER242 is very different from the KR242 and not interchangeable with it. We named our tube after the original 242 tubes which were made by Western Electric and also General Electric. Our 242 is fully interchangeable with 211

it is more like the 211 was or rather the WE 242 C which is different from the telefunken 242 (KR is a replica of the telefunken)

I must confess that contrary to the general opinion on this forum, I am not a fan of the KR 242 RK, but prefer 300b.
My standard combination is ELROG 274b and KR 300b RK.
For pleasurable listening I use the Taka 247b as recti.

I have never heard a 242 in my Pacific. I am partial to 300Bs as well as 01As, 112As, etc.

In my opinion, every Lampi Big7, GG or Pacific owner should at least give the 242 a try

If the 242 works, it is just magical and special
If no sparks are flying with the 242, there are other tubes to try...

I would try the RK (Riccardo Kron special edition) 242 and if you can't find that one, go for the regular KR 242

But beware as with this you're leaving the territory of "cheap" DHTs .

I have two settings- the 45/2a3 and the 300b. Will the 242 work?

Honestly don't know by heart - you need to check posts here as I posted tube specs with settings in one of the posts but I'm not sure actually....300b is 5V heater, 45 is 2.5V heater, 2a3 same but current is much higher. For 242 I can't remember the data by heart...
242 is actually the same heater setting as 101d which is 4V/1A; might be that 242 is 4V,0.5A or something like that so its a no go for your b7...

Try KR 242 and RK 242. They are both different.

If they work it is the best money you will spend in audio. Otherwise you can easily sell them off with minimum loss.

I think it is about 4V, 0.6A. I am with Goran, don't bother trying it. It won't run optimally in a Big 7.

The Telefunken was 3.8V, 0.6A.

There's some real Telefunken's on eBay right now.

You don’t have correct setting for those tubes so do not waste your money for something which won’t work (my two cents on this topic)

This morning I rolled in the WE 275A and 422 combo which I haven’t listened to for a while. After a couple hours I swapped out the 422 for the Acme 274B. I have concluded that the 422 isn’t a really good match for the 275As and maybe just not a great rectifier for any set of DHTs in the Pacific. I find that the sound lacks weight and just feels thin.
