Just got the Daytona with ceramic bezel and black dial.
Besides the well known feel and top quality this must be one of the most (if not the most) beautiful Rolex watches

My gmt master II is 28 years old and I wear it all the time,. I swim in sea 12 months a year. I changed the glass 2 times , got it as new, polished each time and am very satisfied.

A Rolex is a nice piece of jewelry, but hardly a good watch. I traded my Oyster perpetual in for a bass guitar years ago much to the dismay of my in-laws who bought me the Rolex as an engagement gift.

Isn't there a saying that the best Rolex is a cheap Seiko?

Having also worked in the watch Industry.
All Rolex Stainless Steel sports watches have become almost impossible to obtain retail and if you try to buy on the second hand market they sell for way over retail.
These include
Submariners
GMT's
Sky dwellers
and of course Daytona's.
Others retain their value like a SS Date Just or a deep Sea but
For example a SS Sky dweller is 14400 retail and they sell for 18-22k USED
A SS Daytona with ceramic Bezel is a 12,800 retail and sells for 17-22K used.
If anyone can get me one a retail new let me know I want a Batman, Skydweller Blue or a Daytona
Enjoy

A friend of mine is a jeweller stocking Rolex and he tells me global demand is so high that Rolex needs to run its machines in 3 daily shifts continuously for 6 days a week and on the seventh production stops for maintenance. It used to be that he only kept an order waiting list for Daytonas however it is now the case for almost any steel model. He will only accept orders from people he knows and trusts, whereas some UK dealers remove stickers / withhold papers for a year to discourage ‘flippers’ given that all steel sports models now sell at a premium and not just Daytona.

How much more accurate are Rolex watches than an $8 Walmart analog watch? I know in physics labs, really accurate clocks can be very expensive.

The problem I had with Rolex is that I never found them to be that accurate

Are we serious now?
This is the last thing I would expect to read in this forum!

Why don’t you address the same question on cables, speakers, sources, pre amps, amplifiers, cables’ lifters, racks, feet etc?

Is it a joke that I can’t get?

Some watches bring the time to you, some take you to the time. And some just tell you the time.

Some are accurate, but I find those distorting time more surreal

Some watches make you waste time watching some guy's wrist trying to scrutinize if it is real money flashing bling or an el cheapo knock off. Never wear your Rolex with a black and white striped polyester suit with white shoes.

A Rolex requires expert adjusting of the movement. Brand new mine did not hold accuracy. After I had the Jeweler send it to Rolex for a tune up it was fine.

I am astonished - a Rolex thread in WBF and no references to Casio ... ;)

Ked, the only watches distorting time are those close to a singularity or on the deck of the USS Enterprise at Warp Factor Nine.
