Ok I ended up with the RCA too. I really didn't like the GZ 37 that was included.

RCA for me in my Allnic phono stage as well. I too did not care for the GZ37

Just got my Doshi back from Nick. Is now a fully balanced design and it rocks! He's thinking about adding it as an upgrade option. I would strongly recommend it to anyone thinking about the Doshi..

Great work Nick!

Wavestream kinetics archive Phonostage

Hi all
https://www.dropbox.com/sh/b8mpxmhqs7z95t1/AAD8_OB4ikFoNAiy4FgnXDG9a

Wes bender has been assisting me in purchasing a wavestream kinetics phono

Can I first say ..what a hell of a great guy Wes is!!!!

Secondly I am not in a position to go and hear one at Wes's place, and he doesn't have a spare to send me

He kindly got some flac files burnt of it

I am currently in the country and only have a computer and headphones

Till I get back to seriously evaluate on my big rig......

I thought I would share them with those people who can play them back on their systems

And see what they think

Warm regards

Andrew

Wes tells me this is archival version of phono with adjustable equalization curves
This is more like 25000 to build
The cartridge is Lyra etna

Bruce I didn't understand your comment about wave kinetics ?

Wave Kinetics is another company and makes a tt, cables and some accessories.

Scott's company is Wavestream Kinetics.

Easily confused.

I just got the Allnic H3000V. For the last 10 days, I had been testing the Brinkmann Edison which I got on loan from the distributor. Within the minute that I hooked the Allnic I knew it would remain in my system.

Bruce, coming to Thursday's PNWAS meeting? We'll be showcasing phono stages to see if we need/can afford to replace the club's reference phono stage.

Hi Gary, care to share what the club's reference phono stage is along with what night entailed including actual system details.

My Allnic h5000 DHT is still kicking butt. We shall see what the Pass XS phono sounds like when it comes out. SS has a tough road to hoe against well sorted tube setups for phono, IMHO.

I bought the phono after trying it out a lest one other was bought off that demo. A third guy is trying to sell enough body parts to get one. It was a, well this is not going back which it did as I got a new unit with 2 MC inputs and a analog to digital convertor which I have not used yet.

Really nice phono congrats!, I also have one with two MC's and is loaded.

When I first heard one at a friends place whom also has numerous others - FM Acoustics FM122 Mk II, AMR-PH77, Kondo M7 Phono + Kondo Step-up Transformer, S&B TX-103 Silver Stepup Transformer, Audio Research Reference SE II, Passlabs XP25 to name a few I was extremely impressed. It was my favorite - I then went to the TAVES show where I met up with Gary of Genesis to say Hi and noticed he had one in a system which was sounding very nice also and just knew I had to get one.

I have had mine for a few years now and very happy, I also have my Vac but prefer the 100.

There are so many features this phono offers, one that comes to mind is the "Auto Adjust" feature.

From my manual;

Some pickups show a pretty high level tolerance between the left and right channel. In this case the 100 is equipped with an automatic level adjust function. The function measures the channel differences and automatically adjusts it. Goes on with further information along instructions how to set-up with usage of supplied record.

I'm not missing anything, there are lots of other fine phono's mentioned above but if you have a chance I would recommend a demo - just ensure it's well broken-in so you really get to hear what it has to offer along with having it connected properly. It comes with two XLR - RCA adapters so your rca arm cable can just plug into it and not have to worry about terminating as of yet. Also the Balanced output has a PHASE REVERSAL switch to change the polarity of the xlr output pins so when connecting to your pre-amp there won't be any issues.

Hi Gary,

thanks - that was a great read. I also love big band music and like you mentioned listening to such will get you up to boogie and that's what it's all about.

I came away with some further music titles, Andrew's speakers look familiar too because I have a pair of those - most defiantly sound different than my MBL's.
