Amplification options with TAD speakers

You can also listen to ASR Emitter II Exclusive (600w 4ohm)

Hi I al still waiting the best amp for my TAD Cr1tx. I own Kondo Melius, Kondo G700i pre, Gryphon Diablo 333 integrated, Accuphase A80, I own before Pilium Leonidas, Pilium Ares Pre and Iasonas Amp…and I want to say that there is no better amp for TAD. Because they are so transparent than it’s only a matter of taste

I highly recommend TAD M700 for TAD CR1TX .
Perfect match, enough Power, all things goes right

Right.. now you mention that.. I have one of those (Emitter II Exclusive Battery) ....
Any experience around on mating ASR with the CR1 ?

I think the power of Emitter II (for TAD CR1) is enough for small to medium room sizes. In big rooms you can use two complete set of ASR Emitter II.

Finally The best Amplification for TAD R1 and CR1 is TAD M700.

Oh wow. If that is so, knowing the power specs and abilities to drive very difficult loads of the ASR, that is NOT a compliment for the CR1 at all....
Is your statement from experience? Is the CR1 such a diva?

No, I had ASR Emitter II and CR1 but I did not have both ASR Emitter II and CR1at the same time so I did not listen to Emitter connected to CR1 .

TAD CR1 needs power but in small rooms I guess Emitter II exclusive (550w 4ohm) will drive CR1.

I also listened to Krell Evo One 1064w (4ohm) with TAD CR1. It seems you can put over 1000w (4ohm) and enjoy CR1.

It finally happens...

In this entry I reported on my various “attempts” at an integrated amplifier for the TAD CE-1.

From June 2024 to the end of January 2025 I was also very satisfied with the Power III from Accustic Arts (new rack was also purchased).

But somehow it didn't feel “right” - maybe you know that...

Thanks to a free tweak of the Devialet (disconnecting the WLAN card from the power supply), it was even able to outperform the Power III in terms of sound and so I switched back to the Francis.

Fortunately, I was able to sell the Accustic Arts at very short notice without any loss.

Then last weekend I received a very lucrative offer for an almost 8-year-old SIA-025 from Vitus - I picked it up in person on Tuesday.

So now the amplifier is finally playing, which has more than clearly outperformed all previous ones - I couldn't be happier at the moment...

Now it's time to optimize the setup for the Vitus for the rest of the year - I'll then look around for a new DAC in a medium-sized cabinet.

The Ferrum ERCO/Hypsos is currently doing the job.

I was thinking of a “DAC200” from T+A, “Tambaqui” from Mola Mola or the “502” from Weiss Audio - do you have any other recommendations?

Nice Weekend to all of you with lot´s of Great music.

atb, Tom

My recommendation in combination with VITUS SIA025 :
Weiss DAC 502 ... but not the standard version : model DAC 502 MK2 - 4CH
It is a great combination !

ASR Emitter can be considered as power amplifiers + a passive attenuator preamp ... so based on my experience, ASR Emitter amplifiers can be considered as very good or even fantastic amplifiers ... but from my opinion mainly in combination with speakers with quite high sensitivity (or not at minima quite good sensitivity).

Hi Tom539
I have seen that you have a Blue Amp "Model 42" phonostage ... i have this model on my radar.
Can you maybe give a little feedback about this model from this little manufacturer from Germany ?
Thanks in advance !

I have a pair of CR1-TX - great, lively speakers and they suit my listening space very well! With respect to amplification: Gryphon Pandora/Mephisto pre/power - no complaints with this combo and it seems to work pretty well as far as my ears can judge.

Hello Émir, and to the happy owners of the TAD EM1.

I'm following up on what you just said over a year ago about Accuphase and feedback-free Class A!

I'm the proud owner of an Accuphase E800 Class A, and the arrival of the latest version of the TAD EM1 TX will allow me to access the musicality of the used TAD.

However, I'm wondering about the E800's 100W capacity at 4 Ohms compared to the TAD EM1's 85 dB efficiency at 4 Ohms.

The reviews are quite encouraging, even if they show that this configuration isn't the most ideal, but everyone is pedaling for the best.

I can't say if the Accuphase E800 Class A is feedback-free.

I'm thinking of combining the warmth and musicality of the Class A Accuphase with the richness and musical precision of the TAD.

What might also help is my room configuration: 25 m² and a near-field listening distance of 2 m.

Perhaps you've already tried these pairing tests ?

Sorry for late reply.

in my experience both TAD ME1 and TAD CE1 were ok with Vitus 25w class A amplifier in 25m2 room but for accessing full potential of TAD speakers you should go for higher power amplifiers like Accuphase A300 or Vitus SM-103 or TAD M700 or ASR Emitter II HV.

How does the TAD CE1tx perform powered by Accuphase class A amps such as the A-80 or A300 mono blocks?
A300 power is enough for TAD CE1TX

I had a chance to hear the TAD CE1tx driven by the Accuphase A-300 monoblocks, and it was a wonderful sounding combination. The A-300's were hardly breaking a sweat!
I listen to a lot of solo piano (classical) as well as jazz piano trios. I remember reading in a review that the CE1tx reproduces pianos in a very lifelike way, and I can say that I concur. It is a wonderful sounding speaker.
So to answer the original question - yes, a good class A amp such as the Accuphase A-300 can definitely work well with the CE1tx (and Guillaume that very likely applies to the Accuphase E-800 integrated amp as well).
Class A Accuphase amps have plenty of drive and energy, and the A-300 has no trouble driving the TAD CE1tx.
