Visit to Marc C.'s (SpiritOfMusic's) House in England

And remember, I'm an osteopath. Backs and chairs are things I *do* know a bit about.
Audio? That's another matter.

You're accusing me of self flagellation...or everyone else associated with this hobby? Lol.
He who is without sin, etc etc.

Nope … I am opining that your listening chair looks god awfully uncomfortable , quite a stretch there tho … just yourself ! Oh I am a sinner for sure ;)

How far from the speakers do you sit? Have you thought about going a bit more nearfield?
About 3.5m, moved 6 months ago from 4.5m.

and how far apart are your speakers? I was at a friend's recently where he sits very close...like 1.5 meters from the speakers and for a 2 way design this works very well...quite immersive and really minimizes the room effects.

2.85m centre to centre of drivers, same distance to front wall.

Marc,
It actually looks like an ergonomic chair .. must not be a designer label :)
The things you find in a small shop at the coast.

1.5m from the spkrs? No thanks.
Tell your friend that he's secretly hankering for headphones.

Seat looks very similar to the car seat in my original Infiniti Q45 1990. It was the best car seat I have ever had.
It was a 'British saddle seat' and quite firm (not cushy) when you first sat in it, but it disappeared after about 2 minutes and I could drive forever with no back difficulties.

Infiniti changed the seats to the more conventional plushy types later, but i wish I could have those original seats in all my cars.

Those girders make it look like you invited the Transformers (from the movies) to a listening session.

I've sat in a lot of chairs in my time, and despite this at first impressions not looking like I'd get on with it, it sold itself to me pretty rapidly.
Designer seat prices can be almost as crazy as high end audio, that it was a bargain makes me smile as well.
Good to see that at least one person concurs with muly choice.
I find it fascinating when an established well thought out design is ditched for something less good, less interesting, like your Q45 going for a boring seats change.

A couple of Ron Arad’s rover chairs would look nice in your loft too and give your guests something to sit on.
