Hi Bob,

Yes, I should have mentioned it's a documentary. Doh!

That will, of course, make it a very different film from Whiplash. But I still wish Whiplash had sought to dramatize something approximating real life, rather than simply dramatizing drama.

Yes I knew that too; I should have mentioned it...sorry.

Some of the best viewing stuff are . . . Film-Documentaries. ...Showing more accurately life's depictions...real-life facts.

'Whiplash' is an over exaggerated Hollywood film, way over, but it makes for an impacting effect @ the movies, and attracts more people coincidentally, @ the theaters and on DVDs/Blu-rays. More money @ the box office. This, is America. This is the force awakening, Star Wars, Sparta.

_________

? And if you also like Documentaries about mountain climbing, among Music documentaries, like me (them both subjects...and many more);

P.S. Yes Spaz, Star Wars and The Revenant and Mad Max are fictions above reality///only The Revenant is loosely based on telling events/readings.
And I posted few good links on The Revenant in two threads; 1. It's official trailer one...and 2. Steve Williams' official short movie review @ the theater, which I also saw recently...and read extensively about...the behind the scenes...the soi-disant known events as told over the years, all that movie/story jazz.

But here, 'Whiplash' the topic of this thread...is an American Hollywood film about music...the art of drumming. :b
And 'Talent Has Hunger' is a Film-Documentary also about music...the art of the virtuoso...the mastering of the cello. And I want to see it, too.

Whiplash was an independent film produced in 3 weeks. That is not a hollywood style product. Major movie studios go to Sundance and events like that to get distribution rights for movies they think can make money. That is a different situation than them producing a movie themselves.

I enjoyed Whiplash. It was a simple movie let alone fresh and good watch. Can't ask for more than that for passing the time for 90 minutes or however long it was.
