Latest issue of Consumer reports gives the following scores to smartphones:

Verizon:
Droidx: 75
Smasung Fascinate: 75
Droid 2: 75
HTC Incredible: 73

Sprint:
Smasung Epic 4G: 76

T-Mobile:
Samsung Vibrant: 76
T-mobile G2: 75

AT&T:
iPhone 4: 76
Samsung Captivate: 76

We could all argue how good CR reviews are but it sure seems like Android folks are circling Apple and closing in! :D There are 8 Android phones in the list above, providing different form factors and features against the few models from Apple.

Well, my wife and my teenage daughter (middle child) switched to ATT so they could use the iphone.

My other daughter (youngest) and my son (oldest) are with me at Verizon.

Today, I took my son to the Verizon store, let him use my upgrade and got him a Droid X.

He's only had it half a day, but he seems to be elated with it.

The one thing you have to factor is the cell service.

In this area, ATT's service is pretty spotty. My wife calls hers the "i-can't stay-connected" phone.

Most comparison reviews I read called it a toss-up between the Droid X and iphone, giving the iphone a slight nod due to its higher definition screen
and slightly smaller size.

But when you factor in the better cell service + the cost of buying my son out of his Verizon contract, etc.

I thought he'd sacrifice a little in the form factor to get better connectivity.

So far, those seem to be non-issues.

So, our family should provide a good test case.

One thing on which I am not clear, can either the iphone or the DroidX do video calling?
