I read his obit today. Apparently he left behind a fortune of $2.5 Billion....

One of the true geniuses of audio......he will be missed.

--- R.I.P. Ray

* $2.5 Billion?!! ...That is a lot of dough to please the inheritors (family & all). ...But more importantly: His Legacy.

And Roger (Dressler), the Dolby man, I am at your side with my heart & spirit, in these times of remembrance, memories, accomplishments, praises, prayers, and careers' builders.
From the past innovations to the new explorations for a better 'sounding' world.

Ah, well, another good analog guy bites the dust.

So long, Ray. Hope you enjoyed that plane!

FWIW: the Harman/Kardon "CAD-5" was the first cassette deck to use Dolby (NOT the Advent 200 unit sub-contracted to Nakamichi...as is often reported).
[However: the first consumer component recorder featuring Dolby *was* a Henry Kloss product at KLH: the rarely seen KLH Model 40 reel to reel from 1968.]
