the spider is ~270k the folding top adds ~26k to the base price. according to Harris in the video with the carbon tub you dont loose structural rigidity cutting off the top and the folding mech only adds about 100 lbs to the curb weight. They did a great job with the spider it looks as if it were meant to be topless from the get-go.

How many are they making? I think they need 200 qualify as a production vehicle.

About 1000 units a year. 2012 had 400 sold in the US alone. The MP4-12c is on the FIA homologation list for GT3. I don't know how many are required for GT3 but for ALMS GTR it was 100 cars, 1000 engines a few years ago, used to be only 10 a few years before that.

Beautiful. A lot of contemporary supercars do nothing for me. They just lack grace. Even the Veron looks....lumpy, imballanced, bloated here, pinched there; no flow. That McLaren lacks nothing. Very nice.

I see one of these parked at my club (the gym) often...

The poor man's McLaren, perhaps. Not really, but a wonderful little sports car in the old school tradition of weight to hp ratio. And not hard to look at.

To me the Lotus Elan is understated elegance. Simply gorgeous! Thanks Tim!:)
