NY Times: Great Article On Wayne Shorter

I read the article, good one. I cannot however forgive the single "in-passing" mention on Weather Report of which he was a con-founder. Weather Report influenced Wayne Shorter play from the traditional to a more research oriented output. It is true that Joe Zawinul was the true leader of the band but Wayne Shorter was its guiding light. His playing was mostly sparse with WR but help elevate the plays of the others in the band. He was the person who anchored the band in a musical direction in spite of Zawinul sometimes repetitive quirks. Not mentioning this very important period in Wayne Shorter career seems to me as not ony a slight to his musical progression but diminish the value of the article.

You have a point. It must have been difficult to provide an overview of his career...its so far reaching and he was such a pioneer.
