My integrated died...time to upgrade or fix/mod? (SF Evolution speakers)

It looks like my beloved Accustic Arts Power 1 integrated amp is dying a slow death. Sometimes I do not get any sound from it. Cycling power works sometimes. My feeling is that the problem is just something simple like a relay or something. So my options are:

1. Fix the amp and while I am at it mod with upgraded internal components like power outlet, capacitors, etc. My nerdy side actually likes this option. The big issue is finding a reputable person who can do the fix and mod in Southern California.

2. Upgrade to a new (to me) integrated. This is of course the more fun option but I really love my Accustic Arts integrated regardless of price. So the question is what are potential upgrade candidates at this same price point (<$5K)?

BTW, my speakers are Sonus Faber Evolution monitors. I listen mainly to acoustic and folk music at low to medium volume so a magical and intimate vocal reproduction is paramount to me.

Any input would be greatly appreciated!

i'll bet you can't touch an integrated of the same quality for under $8K. I'm not even sure you need to upgrade anything. Have a tech find the problem and ask his advice about what should be replaced. One can find anything in S. California. It shouldn't take much research. Get in touch with an LA Hi-Fi club. Ask around on some of the other audio forums. Don't make it hard.

Isn't Accustic Arts still in business?

Have you thought about a manufacturer rebuild?

I'm always a fan of fixing rather than replacing, especially when it's been a trusted friend.

Yeah I know I can find a tech but since I am also looking to upgrade/mod it at the same time I am trying to find someone reputable who can do both. I will heck out the LA/OC hi-fi club.

According to their website they are still in business. I reached out to their US distributor to see if they have recommendations for repair. I will ask about a rebuild too. I didnt think of that.

I haven't heard your integrated amp, but at your price point, you could do a lot worse than the Hegel line. Their integrateds start at $2000, and top at $5700.

Thank you Alex. I've heard good things about Hegel too. I will check it out.
