Amazon is offering a matched pair of12AU7 tubes . Probably not NOS. Should I buy them now even though I do not need them yet. Or might they be a knockoff? I paid $100 for the last pair.

It says "reissue" under Product Description in the ad. Price is pretty much what other sellers charge (e.g., Tube Depot) so there's no bargain.

Looking at the link provided above to Brent Jessee's site ("12AU7 Tubes in Stock"), I suggest you try the RCA or Sylvania long black plate 12AU7's. The best sounding and most sought after NOS Amperex and Mullard preamp tubes tend to be the long plates, and I have found the 1950's and 1960's Sylvania long black plate 12AX7's for example to match the sound quality of the comparable NOS Amperex and Mullard tubes at a significantly lower price. Reissue tubes don't compare.
