I generally use one review site before deciding to see a film and that site is MRQE.com. The greatest asset of MRQE is that is has direct links to every movie review in the country for a given film. You can see at a glance, for example, 50 reviews of a given film.
The critic's reviews for Mr. Turner were outstanding with an overall MRQE score of 85, which is very high indeed for MRQE.
Well, all I can say is that I guess everyone gets it wrong very once in a while and in this case, its either me, or the vast majority of film reviewers in the USA.
Let's put it this way, I think I broke a rib watching this film due to the number of times my wife had to give me an elbow in the ribs to prevent me from falling asleep for good. What a horrible, boring, uninteresting movie. If it was the only movie nominated for an Oscar this year, I would still recommend not seeing it. If you saw it and liked it, please tell me why. What did I miss? Good lead acting I suppose, but otherwise, a real snoozer IMHO.
