Would like to know best tube sources for my LL2.1 preamp and LP2.1 phono since Lamm does not have anything resembling customer service.
Yes, I already have referenced the FAQ tube information from the Lamm websiteLamm works through their dealer network. Have you spoken to your Lamm dealer? There are several here on WBF including Steve Williams, (@Steve Williams) David Karmeli (@ddk) and Gestalt Audio (@gestalt). If you are polite I'm confident a dealer will be able to help you. I"ve found Lamm has excellent customer service if you give them time to get back to you, as noted here: Contact Lamm
LP2.1 Tube Complement:
Other than the rectifier tube, V101 - V104 are Russian tubes. You can find them for sale on ebay. If you want them tested and matched, then Lamm or a Lamm dealer with stock is probably your best source.
V101 -6C3P / 6C3?, left channel, first amplification stage;
V102 – 6C3P / 6C3?, right channel, first amplification stage;
V103 – 6C45P-E / 6C45?-E (original), left channel, second amplification stage;
V104 – 6C45P-E / 6C45?-E (original), right channel, second amplification stage;
V105 – 6X4, full wave voltage rectifier.
LL2.1 Tube Complement:
These are very common tube types. You should be able to find examples from most tube dealers.
V105 – 6X4
you can use: 6X4W, 6X4WA, 6202, EZ90, CV4005, CV493
Left and Right channels each take one of the following:
V101 – 12AU7A
you can use: 12AU7, 12AU7WA, ECC82, E82CC, ECC802, 5814, 5814A, 5963, 6189, 6680, 7730, CV491, CV4003, CV8155
V103 – 6DJ8
you can use: 12AU7, 12AU7WA, ECC82, E82CC, ECC802, 5814, 5814A, 5963, 6189, 6680, 7730, CV491, CV4003, CV8155
Note: changing tubes in a Lamm preamp may require an internal adjustment, eg via a potentiometer, using a voltmeter. Lamm can provide specific instructions if that is needed for either of your models.
last Summer, I did go thru my local Dealer, Jaguar Audio.
I know that Lamm uses 6x4 WA JAN in my LL1 preamp
For whatever reason it seems to take a month or two for any response.@rich121 did you have any luck in getting replacement tubes? I reached out to Lamm about a month ago to try and get replacements for my LP2.1. Unfortunately I have yet to hear back.
Glad to hear it! I'll have to reach back out to them again this week. Thanks.For whatever reason it seems to take a month or two for any response.
It might help to send another message.
And yes, after awhile I did finally get them
I looked around early in the year for these and had zero luck but finally Elina came through with a set for me. You just have to keep trying. One of her dealers that knows her and can contact her directly helped nudge her to return my email.Does anyone know of any other source for LP 2.1 tubes? LAMM was going to send me an invoice, but never followed through. They have since been unresponsive to my follow-up emails.
