Wow,

I'm almost speechless. I must admit if I had a Goldman Sachs bonus in my future why not. I quickly added up my system and it is below 50k for everything. Thank god I started acquiring gear when things were different or I think i'd be depressed right now. The remedy for this, I will go turn on my system and be content with the sound and what I have.

Would be fun to post the percentages gone to each category. I see $220K for the wires. That is 32% of the total cost. Isn't that "a bit" high? Wasn't the rule of thumb 5 to 10%.

I usually use 10% to 20%, but rules of thumb are just that.

The bottom line is this: the best costs lots of money. This is not news, no matter how (regrettably) inaccessible it makes such things to most of us.

I count 5 manufacturers sharing that room going balls out. Given the cost of just an ordinary venetian suite, the master suite or mini-conference rooms must cost much, much more. If I were a manufacturer I figure I'd make the most of it and go balls out too.

Just got back from a few days stay at the Venetian. IF you can stand the smoke from all the
lower level floors, it's not a bad place to stay in Vegas, IMHO.
Not sure that all this gear will sound that great in the kind of room that one finds in
the Venetian, OTOH, I guess that applies to all hotel venues.

FWIW, the Lamm Room was great last year when he used ML3' with MAXX lll's. This year he is showing X-2's with ML3/LL1 Signature for which I have an obvious bias :)

You should throw in your A810 with some master tapes and call it a day!

Go Big or Go Home!!

If you are seriously rich who needs percentages :)

I am not really against to have manufacturers spending the time, the risk and bringing uo top- notch gear, at one point it should serve us all as a reference level, on the other hand, sooner than later I return home and a big smile appears when I turn on my system and assess my progress. :)
