AudiogoN is bogus. That site has turned into a wild West mess.

I agree but look at all of the adds being placed - still the to go game unfortunately, just have to really do your diligence when buying or selling.

If the staff at AudiogoN were doing their jobs, adds would be vetted before being posted. Relying on users to do your work is foolish. Reminds me of the "if you see something, say something" mindset of the TSA. To AudiogoN's credit, they do take the bogus adds down quickly upon being reported, but how many people have jumped on a too good to be true add, only to find out they wired money to a fraud. Vet the adds before posting them, they all have tell-tales that indicate fraud...

I fully agree and have sent a many emails that likely went no where with suggestions. I feel they "Audiogon" should be held accountable for any fraudulent. Their services being rendered are being paid for and should be responsible for allowing scam adds being placed on their supposedly secured site.

I think the worse is when a members account has been hacked and being used to place ads and not aware, the ones with no feedback and specific countries are pretty simple to see.

Audigon should be putting any NEW adds by a seller with NO feedback into a holding area to be verified, they could quickly confirm and would eliminate allot. This is a business so they should conduct as per, they are aware of the endless scam ads being posted daily.

They don't seem to care as long as they are carrying the wheel barrow to the bank

Yes I agree but if they did the holding area they would be still be financially gaining the same but just eliminating scams from initially being listed.

I'm curious - if someone can enlighten me.

When a add is posted there is a cost associated in doing such, so lets assume it's fraudulent and the payment also is.

What is the actual process for Agon - chargeback from .... if so there must be a cost in doing such associated. I know with my business and if a payment is challenged I receive a chargeback and immediately that money comes out of my account. I loose the initial % of doing the transaction along with an added chargeback % so the financial institute makes double the money "credit cards for example"

Agon has today an advert for a 2.5 year old DCS Pagannini DAC for $2500 including free shipping by FEDEX.
It's inconceivable that this is genuine and ties in with earlier posts on this forum of Agon scams.
I have emailed Agon to express my concerns but whether they do anything remains to be seen, but at least I have tried.

This is a great example of what I was mentioning above saying;

In my opinion Audigon should be liable for anyone getting scammed by such.

Good news!
After receiving an acknowledgement I received a second email from Audiogon asking for the listing ID.
When I went to the site to check that I found the ad had been suspended.
If at first you don't succeed.............................

Success.
The ad has been removed and I have received an email from Audiogon thanking me for my efforts to keep the site safe.

Audiogon are far too busy vetting and deleting posts on the forum section ;)
