Some of us have had the HD DVD version of it for 2+ years :p.

It looks really good. I watched it all over again when I got that disc.

Yes, the HD-DVD version has a fantastic picture. I still have a lot of HD-DVDs in which I will most likely not double dip with Blu-ray, as long as I have a working HD-DVD player. However, I will double dip on this one.

Funny you should mention that. I never bought it on Laser disc and later HD-DVD. I also still have my Toshiba HD-DVD player and movies. This is one I have to finally buy on Blu Ray.

You know, to this date, I still can't believe how they pulled off all of those special effects so far back. I know the techniques, but still, amazing work. The movie seems somewhat modern even by today's standards! I still remember watching it with amazement when I first saw as a child....
