Interesting what they say about the "default" boosting of the 4 KHz range in most other headphones. Any time I have heard ANY headphone, I have had an unwavering hankering to EQ them such that I progressively diminish frequencies from 4 KHz through to about 8 KHz and then boost them at around 16 KHz to compensate for the drop at 8 khz. To my ears, this is the only way I can get them to remotely compare to what I hear normally or through a properly-setup speaker. If I try to listen "flat", it is very uncomfortable - it sounds like one of those Realistic three way speakers from the 1970s and 80s where you have disconnected the woofer and tweeter. I never have such problems with speakers. This is the first time I have read anything to support the notion that I am not actually mad and am simply trying to compensate for the way headphones are engineered.
