IMHO Vertere may be the most under-rated and ignored hi-end hifi brand in Hong Kong.

10 days ago, Vertere has just got a new distributor (Chris) who asked me to take Veretere's top HB Series USB cable for a home trial. He claimed that it KO his Crystal Dreamline Plus usb cable easily.

At that time, I gave him just a lukewarm response. I have been using a Totaldac usb cable and a Light Harmonic LightSpeed 2G usb cable happily. The former is in my opinion a best-buy, surpassing many brands/models that are much more expensive. Its musicality/analogue-ness is a heavenly-match with CAS.

But when I inserted the Vertere HB in my audio system, my jaw dropped to floor. It betters both of my usb cables in all aspects at once!

After burning it in for about 100 hours, I listened to it again carefully and confirmed that it is the best usb cable that I have ever listened to. It's very all-rounded without any obvious pitfall. It has supreme musicality yet the freq extensions and resolution are not compromised. The soundstage is wide and deep and there are so many layers within.

I now tend to believe Chris that the Vertere HB may be the best usb cable in the market!
However, for the <USD1.2k level usb cables, I think Totaldac is still the king.

Nice review! Did you buy it? How much?

Hi LL21,
I will buy one, but maybe later this year because I have other priorities (Tripoint Signature , MSB Series V UMT transport ... etc). :D

The Hong Kong dealer just got the Vertere distributorship so the net prices of the flagship HB Series are not finalized yet.
I guess it will be similar to the price in UK, about £1600. Pls contact him for details (info@audioexotics.com).

Call me skeptical about this cable. The pricing, about $2,200 plus the fact that it has a box in the line which does lord knows what.

You are in UK. Why on the earth you want to call HK dealer for the cable when the manufacturer of the cable is in UK?

Interesting but I can't find any info about this cable on the Vertere site? Found a pic somewhere else of another Vertere usb cable looking like yours, it's called Pulse HB USB 2.0 Double V2 Cable. Is this the same cable?

HI CKKeung, which Vertere model are you referring to?

Hi bonzo75,

The Vertere HB Series usb cable is an new addition. There is no info update at Vertere website or the webshops in UK yet.

I guess Lindeman's photos posted are from a Canadian webshop : http://www.rutherfordaudio.com/cad/double-pulse-hb-usb.html
The cable looks identical to the one I borrowed from the Vertere official dealer in Hong Kong.
Therefore, I think the full name of this Vertere HB Series usb cable is in fact "PULSE HB USB 2.0 DOUBLE V2 CABLE".

BTW After my review post here on 21 Jan, several audiophiles in Hong Kong performed shootouts between the Vertere HB usb cable vs Crystal Dreamline Plus and Siltech Universal usb and eventually all of them bought the Vertere HB usb cable.

Cheers,
CK

Haven't done much USB demos, I preferred the total dac usb to the audio quest diamond on Lampi 7. Demoed them at Elberoth's place. I own the Lampi and the AQ diamond. Was in the market for total dac but will have to demo this then.

I own a Totaldac usb cable too. It's IMO the best-buy in the market. I also compared it against AQ Diamond and preferred Totaldac.

However, Vertere HB is at least one league higher than Totaldac.
HB is expensive but I think your AQ Diamond can be sold quite easily ...

Cheers,

Hi CKKeung, do you know if they make Ethernet/Lan cable too? Checked their website nothing.

I heard that they are developing an ethernet cable.
Let me ask the local dealer and then get back to you.

I currently have two using as HS-link for proprietary digital connection ~ AQ Diamond RJE, and AIM Shieldio which I prefer ~ more organic sounding with better texture and tonal density. If Vertere makes one, I'd be interested to buy/try one from your dealer, as none in my Country as yet. Thanks.

Hi bvdiman,
I have an AIM NA-3 ethernet cable too.
If Vertere launches a HB grade ethernet, it will be very attractive.

You may directly contact the Vertere official dealer in Hong Kong .
I have already conveyed your enquiry to them.

Hi CKKeung, I just got back from a trip so not yet in touch with the dealer.
Also, since you have the AIM NA3 and possibly access to Vertere ethernet cable please do share your finding first when you get hold of one, if you don't mind.
The pros and cons against AIM and AQ Diamond RJE/how they differ - to see if it matches my preferences/system. Don't want to be ordering one unheard, although unlikely, there's still chance to be disappointed. :b Thanks.

*Just visited their site indicating that it should be already available (after Easter?).

Hi bvdiman,

I have not seen/got the Vertere HB ethernet cable yet. Hope that I can have an audition of it soon.

However, its net price may be around USD2500 whereas the price of AIM NA3 is now so low because of the low Yen. I got my AIM in Japan at <USD250!
Your description of AQ Diamond vs AIM is spot on. The Vertere HB has to be very very good to justify its price (although we all know that the best stuff are always unproportionally expensive).
