Keith, the Def4s are absolutely outstanding here.
Ron has heard some of the world's very best spkrs, and he really enjoyed the Zus' presentation.
I did go the extra mile w them w Duelund caps to high- and low-pass filters, and Lundahl transformers to the Hypex sub amps, and these changes have really paid off.
The room has given them a real shot in the arm w so much more transparency provided now.

Which Lundahl transformers did you choose for the sub amps?

Don't know Micro.
Sean had a real effort to secure them from Sweden, the order overran 6 months.
But it was worth the wait.

I can't remember if I showed you Roon or not that afternoon. Next time we get together, I'll let you take a spin with it.

I look forward to that!

Sure Peter.
The killer dac and SGM I may get will aesthetically match anything I have, so it'll go on display like my other components.
My declaration of "love" for computer audio is more the concept of having to use it rather than looks per se.
Just some British dry irony, not meant to be taken absolutely literally.
No, it'll go out there like all my other boxes.

Thanks Marc. I did not understand your British way of expressing yourself. I guess you actually like digital now, even streaming, and are now concentrating your efforts in that direction and away from analog. That is interesting given what you have written previously, but you have had an "epiphany" so to speak with digital, so I understand the change of interest.

I wish you luck and have every confidence that you will find satisfaction.

Sorry Peter, sense of humour can divide whole continents.
Basically w us Brits, assume the opposite meaning.
But never be sure, so cover your bets.
LOL

Hi Peter, we certainly can be occasionally divided by a common language.
Compounded by audiophiles not always agreeing on terms.
Listen, like you, my natural proclivity is for vinyl.
I've spent my whole life railing against digital and having a deep connection w good vinyl replay.
But since 2012 on acquiring my Eera Tentation cdp, a lot of barriers to me enjoying digital disappeared.
So much so that I actually tried to find a common place for my digital and analog to converge leading to me moving away from my overly warm and lush vinyl setup to one a lot more accurate and neutral.
And now in the last 6 months, and esp the last 3 w Stacore isoln and Sablon Elites pwr cords, digital is so compelling that it's really in the sweet spot I usually reserve for vinyl.
Now there's a very good chance that my analog when it's reinstalled will regain the usual pre eminence over digital, but even if it does, the die is cast, and my curiosity for better sound is now centred around efforts in my digital.
And this inevitably runs to streaming.
And how to access the universe of Tidal/Roon at commensurate stellar quality to hold up its head w my vinyl and RBCD.

Dave, your current poor experience together w the various demos I've been to with computers crashing and files not loading is the main reason why I'm really reluctant to embrace computer audio.

Current state of play, the room/isolated power grid is continuing to be an open window to greater and greater performance with each impvt.
So Stacores have been doing their decluttering and pulling together of the musical message, Sablon Elite power cords are heightening the whole density thing, and SR Black fuses are opening up higher frequencies, air etc.
The spooky thing is that put these last three rounds of upgrades together (with the Shun Mooks Giants Diamond Resonators temporarily under my preamp), and the cumulative effect has caused my sound to sky rocket in every respect, bass extension with no smearing of mids, treble extension with no loss of texture in mids, and the kind of transparency where the spkrs really are totally disappearing in my room, even w formerly harsh early 80s recordings.

Final lot of fuses in, eleven (yes, eleven) SR Blacks in my pre, 19 in total thruout the system.
Praise be to Chris of VH Audio, they were 2 for the price of 3 LOL!
In Zu subs opening up of highs, less bass grunge.
In Eera cdp, fantastic impvt in texture and palpability.
In NAT 211 monos, real change in bass heft and tonal color.
And now in the NAT linestage, a lifting of haze, more transparency, wider soundstage, less hash.
A really significant impvt across the board, a great complement to the changes wrought by Stacores and Sablon Elites.

Marc,

Thank you for the point this thread; you have an absolutely fascinating and beautiful home! I love the whole concept it and the
living plan in the main part of the old chapel with the custom-built audio room. What a great project and innovative use of
historical space. Well Done! The system must sound amazing. I am very happy for you! If I am ever across the pond on business with time to
spare,....

SC, you’re v welcome
The main space at 35x30x30 is too reflective to use for the system, slap echo too intrusive. It would have needed a ton of acoustic treatments, or more deadly still, extensive DRC.
Also, my GF had the casting vote, and she decided to keep the space mercifully free of my prog rock, fusion and avant garde.
This decision has proved to be the right one, w my sound blossoming in the dedicated space.
Let me know if you can ever make it, I’m 100 miles out of Central London, 80 mins by train. A warm welcome always on offer.

Beautifull house/ country side , nice system but I think those sloping sidewalls under the roof are probably quit challenging acoustically, the ground floor looks awesome , get some big speakers to fill the ground floor :D
