One pick-up, I SUV and two sports cars. All different experiences. Variety is the spice of life, isn't it ?

Dave, maybe you can enlighten me. The AS is head and shoulders above the competition. Maybe the EMT emulates it. But from what I gather, the AF1 can’t stand the heat from AS. Just what possible reason is there to stick w the AF1? Why would anyone want to play lps on it that will comprehensively be better on the AS? I’m just not getting it. No criticism intended, just incredulity.

Do you not own 2 of anything where 1 is superior to the other? Why should he sell something if he doesn't need to?

I have 7 different copies of Kind of Blue, none of which I plan to sell. They can all have their own experience.

Great turntables are also Objet d'Art and the AF1 is still one of the best turntables made today there's no reason for him to sell it like I still have mine too. All those cartridges need arms and there's only 4 on the AS !

So many flavours....is curious this "affliction" troubles us on the digital side to a lesser extent....

mind you ..i could purchase some turntables just to admire the (over)engineering.....

Ha Dave, what would this hobby be without some angst.
Actually, I’m pretty angst free atm, I have a pretty unique tt/arm that for a fraction of the cost of big hitters is becoming totally satisfying.
One tt/arm/cart is doing me nicely.

when I had only one phono stage and it went down, I was without vinyl for a couple weeks. I'm a prepper, what can I say ?

Francisco, I have to regularly justify my spending to my non-audio buddies. Surely it’s ok to give Christian a little dig about why he’s hanging onto a tt that by his estimation is not the greatest tt ever made.
Now if the argument is “I can, so I do”, then that’s where I’ll leave it, because Christian certainly can, and I certainly can’t.
But I can’t see why anyone would want to play lps on any tt decidedly worse than the flagship of flagships.
I certainly could get this if it was true that the AF1 does some things better than the AS.

I have 7 arms spread over 3 tables, two phono stages with 3 inputs each. Clearaudio only table that does 78 and has a cool magnetic bearing design so it stays. AF1 has vacuum holdown and air-suspension so it stays. Those are features I like to have from time to time that the AS does not have. Can’t they all coexist ?

Currently I can’t get Vox Palladium off my brain after Davey started that thread and I the thought of the idea of new speakers in a couple years.That may be the next upgrade...Awful expensive though.

I get it Christian . I wonder how many times you’ll actively choose not to spin an lp on the AS.
I guess choice is the spice of life for audiophiles.
