Win Tinnon who goes by mosin here brought his turntable to the show with a pair of 1950's RCA speakers. It was probably the single best component I heard at the show

Truly a magnificent turntable. I'm going back this morning before I leave to hear it again

Also Gary Koh's Genesis room was exceptional and the best I have ever heard.

I also agree about Win's turntable. I spent a very pleasurable 1/2 hour in his room spinning the Paraguayan folk music I played for you, and also side B of the Count Basie album on his table. That table sounds like a winner, and if you are thinking of adding vinyl to your tape and CD playback, the Saskia should be among the top of your list along with the Air Force One.

I was pretty uptight and not so cool when I learned that the shippers lost all the packaging for my old speakers. Dave Fletcher said earlier that 1950 called, and that they wanted their speakers back. Hopefully, he was wrong, and I will get them returned undamaged!

I really enjoyed the show this year even though I took on a small assignment that ended up consuming ALL of my time.

Basically, with a few exceptions, if the room didn't have analog (Tape or LP) I probably didn't go in. I know I missed a few digital only rooms I wanted to hear but time flew by so fast that it was over before I could get to them.

The Friday night meet and greet went very well as did the Saturday WBF dinner. I enjoyed meeting more of the WBF crew at both events as well as others. We have some interesting characters among the crowd...

As far as the rooms go, I think I have more of a handle on what some of the members consider is good or preferred sound. Not surprisingly, the field of opinions on that topic is very wide ranging.

Nice work, Dre, and the photos add to the enjoyment. One of the things that always bugged me about the print magazines' show reports was that there would be a photo of some unidentified piece of new gear, and you would search the text in vain trying to find out what it was. I didn't have that problem with your write-ups. Kudos to Win, Bruce, and the other members here who had gear in play.

Relative to the Wilson XLF + Thor set up...did anyone hear the Lansche 8.2 setup with Ypsilon electronics? Very curious as I have heard good things about Lansche designs...and this one is quite an all-out-assault design. Complete D'Appolito...like the Arrakis...6'7" tall...880 lbs, with 2 powered 18" subs...so all the crossover work (40hz?) and amp matching is taken care of as part of the design by the manufacturer.

I heard the Lansche big boys at the show and they didn't make a good showing. Blame the room, blame the electronics, blame the cables, blame the source material, and blame the speakers or some combination of all of them. The bottom line is they sounded very hi-fi in the worst sense of the meaning of that word.

Thanks for that...seems like (I think) Stereophile suggested the same thing in their brief overview of the room...which is what triggered my question to other members of WBF. Have you heard Lansche's before? They're supposed to be quite good speakers...have not heard myself.
