Why do car stereos lack airy, silky highs?

I know that it's kind of dumb to invest a lot of money into car stereos. Even in a luxury sedan, (ok, maybe not the Rolls Ghost!) when you are driving 60 mph, the ambient noise is about 70 db, so you are missing all those details.

Nevertheless, is it me, or is the weakness of car audio systems tweeters that for some reason can't do silky, airy, natural highs? The highs in even expensive cars sound quite brittle to my ears. Are there technical / physical limitations to good highs in cars? High frequencies that is...:)

There are a lot of good tweeters out there. I'd say the number one problem is placement.

The tube lair in beautiful Rock Hill, SC
Perhaps because it has to get so loud to hear things that the distortions that one does not want to hear is actually what one does hear. Here's another option...Happy traveling. :)
