In the past few days I've been enjoying these albums:
José James: No Beginning, No End
Giacomo Gates: Miles Tones
Gregory Porter: Liquid Spirit
Great albums, each of them. Then I began to wonder. We have a plethora of great contemporary female jazz vocalists but it seems we have a dearth of great contemporary male jazz vocalists. Am I correct? If so, why? If I'm incorrect, who else stands out as a great contemporary male jazz vocalist?
