What makes a speaker "High end"?

It has a little sticker from the high end speaker association so they can raise the price accordingly.

Seriously, nothing really. A high end speaker can be low in price or high in price, can but built well or not. Performance is usually the key however.

What defines a speaker as "High End "?
The price ? build quality ? performance ?
Anything else ?
Who cares? Find something you like and be happy.

Now that I have got that off my chest .maybe the members can give you some advice.
things to look fgor in any speker are basically.
Flat frequency response
Low distortion
Efficiency
good imaging-left to right and front to back
Timbre
Good midrange
Good bass
Non-fatiguing treble
dynamic range³
Roomfriendly and WAF
Ability to suspend disbeleif

All in apckage that will integrate into your room at a price you can afford.
Unless you can afford an all out design the designer will have compromised or prioritized one or more of those qualities/

“High End” is a relative term and may mean different things to different people. But the appellation does carry with it connotations of above average. The Martin Logan Masterpiece Series is their high end, for example. The AudioQuest Mythical Creatures series is their high end. The ART series is Conrad Johnson’s high end. The Vivaldi series is the dCS high end. The Opus X is Fuente’s.

For a consumer, Paragon Sight and Sound might be considered a high end store compared to say the Magnolia section of Best Buy. But the Magnolia section would be considered the high end of Best Buy.

Also the you tube channels eg The Audiophilliac, tend to concentrate on smaller ,easier ro drive speakers that represent good value.

In my estimation what makes a speaker high end is its ability to grab your attention when music is playing and establish a reaction to the music that moves one emotionally, intellectually, spiritually, physically (goose bumps hair raising, etc.) and in any other of the myriad ways that music moves us. Depending on the listener the variety of "high end" speakers in existence is very wide and deep..
