Watching the equestrian event and the announcer said one of the racers had his horse fail a drug test! I guess it make sense that they do that to the horse as much as to humans but I had never thought about it....

It's quite common in horse racing to the detriment of the horses and the breeding industry.

Horses are drugged to be faster OR slower to fix results. It's indeed sad. At least in humans, it is voluntary.
Depends on the state and their rules. Not only just things like steroids but also diuretics. Of course BBs using equine steroids like Winstrol/Stanazol too.
