We just finished watching both 10 episode seasons of Single Drunk Female on Hulu. My wife and I are very glad we hung on past the first couple of episodes where watching a 28 year old girl deal with alcoholism pains deeply. Plenty of bad choices are made, some predictable scenes, appropriate humor, and a difficult relationship with her mother played by Ally Sheddy with whom she must live. In the first season you are introduced to several characters most of whom we must wait to season 2 to have their characters developed but that is worth waiting for.
The lead character Sam (Samantha) is played by very well by Sofia Black-D’Elia. I hope to see more of her if there is a season 3 or elsewhere.
Usually I have a hard time watching people struggle with alcoholism and there are times we see Sam put herself, or stumble into bad situations ,or make bad decisions. In this series you are forced to cringe and even laugh at times.
I am very glad we gave this one a try. Very well done.
