Here’s my DIY submission:

4” x 4” x 3” solid natural walnut block

walnut block stained with clear wood furniture preservative

1/2” square Sorbothane duro 30 self-adhesive pad in each corner on the bottom

2” diameter Sorbothane duro 30 self-adhesive hemisphere in each corner on the top

One just places the cable over the valley formed by the four round pieces on top.




The Sorbothane hemispheres are expensive. This prototype cost $45! But this cable lifter probably makes the cable feel happily coddled and relaxed.

Here is a custom design made by Mike Goppert of TimbreDynamics at my request:




There is a 3/16 inch thick scarf of sorbothane at the top, and a 1/4 inch thick base of Sorbothane on the bottom. Mike will source any hardwood you wish.

And here's a considerably less expensive option on the site made from plastic and rubber you can fill with sand so they don't fall over like some other do.

My floor there is walnut, so I think I like the Timbredynamics lifter better.

What do you have on the floor at the front of your listening room?

At the front of my listening room I have four Rei amplifiers, so four substantial power cords plus speaker cables. My equipment rack, like yours is in an adjacent room. This, plus the needs of several customers is why I have been on a mission to find something that works and also looks the part. is one of the reasons I have been on a search. My floors are oak, so it was a plus when you said Mike will produce them in several hardwoods. Let me know if I can help Mike go into production on this. Perhaps a few of the members will order some as well to "kick-start" things!

I’m thinking I’m agreeing with you. I think the hardwood body of the Timbredynamics lifter matching the wood on the floor (with the gray marble base) will look nicer and more designer-y than the bright, shiny, silver metal ones on the hardwood floor.

Yes well some interesting samples there alright-- If I may add a word of warning re any intended use of Sorbothane "bases" placed on wooden Flooring/furniture /etc.
The damn stuff leeches(sorry couldn't think of a more sensitive word!) and semi sticks leaving staining marks which believe me can be permanent!
I know from experience with those dreaded Audioquest Marshmallow versions(yuk!) and Mission Isoplats on both Flooring and Vintage furniture.

Ha!-haven't heard that one T--Damn stuff can do some damage in that time though!
It's only good for show pony demos --hitting the Isoplats with a Hammer while the LP12 plays on!
Not on my watch.

Glimpses of cable mismanagement:


The red one is the tonearm cable, the white unsheilded 220 V for the turntable.


Terribly dusty sound card. Headphone output is used as single ended to the subwoofer amps. Cordial Jack to XLR for the main speaker amps. The PC on the left runs the system filters.


The speakers once had the amplifiers inside. I didn't bother swapping XLR for Speakon when changing amps moving them into a separate cabinet. Note attempt on cable management recesses under the subwoofer.

I can attest to sorbothane leaving marks on furniture. I've put felt pads under the ones I use for my turntable.

First cable risers that I’ve seen that are really attractive and some of the racks also look great… it seems like they have some fairly bespoke options for exotic tone woods as well, nice stuff.
