No but dealers who can't move their own stock do.

That's because they have 50 points to work with. That's why it's great to sell at the top of the food chain! If I owned a high-end store, I wouldn't carry a single product that retailed for less than $20K. Even my receipts would have gold leaf on them and that way no would ever claim they 'lost' theirs. I would have an accountant meet all new clients at the door and escort them back to an office so we could verify their net worth. Anyone deemed unworthy would be escorted out the back door into an alley after a good slapping for wasting our time. We would put the snoot in snooty. It would be a great business model destined to put you on the fast track to untold riches.

Assuming of course that what you're carrying doesn't get phased out and replaced by a new model. :( Some companies change lines very regularly. That margin can disappear very quickly vis a vis street price.

that's why no one in the States stocks product. the new model now is offer 25% off and have the product drop shipped to your customers house. no need to stock, display or demo an item because you gave them the screaming deal. Mfrs look the other way b/c they're no less scrupulous and will offer consumers product direct if you attend some of the major shows. this rarely happened when the high-end biz was strong, dealers would come off maybe 10% or an amount to cover the sales tax, they didn't have to discount more than that because they sold everything they got, waiting list for hot items were common. its no wonder brick and mortar stores are dead.

That would be the death spiral. Easiest way to sell is to demo. That and after sales service is the heart and soul of B&M. If you don't stock by choice, you get what you deserve.
