I like the sentiment. Have zero kids to worry about colleges. Currently working a 2.5 day week.

I've stopped lusting after that AF0/four SAT/MSB Select 3 box/multi DAgostino/WAMM Chronosonic. Good thing too Lol.

never read anything so lame.

where did anyone get the idea that people making big (or bigger) dollars look for sympathy? or complain about working hard or working smart. they do it cuz they like to do it.

as far as not wanting others to take money from them; the whole planet thinks that way, not just the rich. the spin doctors just target the rich.

Getting into politics, here, but most of the media pieces nowadays are misdirection to provoke class struggle for political ends. The press is not your friend anymore and sober minds need to spend more time piercing the veil.

"In 2016, the top 1 percent of taxpayers accounted for more income taxes paid than the bottom 90 percent combined. The top 1 percent of taxpayers paid roughly $538 billion, or 37.3 percent of all income taxes, while the bottom 90 percent paid about $440 billion, or 30.5 percent of all income taxes.

Steve, I read all the articles I post.
I could easily have posted in the humor forum section but I decided in the general misc forum section, make that financial economics.

Mike, the quote in my post is a tiny fraction of an article I did not post the link.
In that first post there are three links to three short articles, and they are more about stats, financial stats in America.
...The investment sectors that pay off, the percentage of them from recent, and other stats including taxes from the classes.

Now Steve, tell me this; did you read those three articles from those three links?

I am not the author of those articles, I'm only a reader like anyone else.
I read Forbes and Fortune mags, the New York Times, the Washington Post.
I was a subscriber to both Forbes and Fortune from a long time ago.

Carl, I've read you; the stats ...

Marc, in UK there are divisions too, finances.

Those numbers are part of what drives the world economy into orbit.
The tech sector is big in China, in America, in California, in Silicon Valley.

So, I invite you to read the three articles first before.
If not it's your choice ...

Bob, of course there are divisions in the UK. Brexit will initially exacerbate them, although the idea of a successful Brexit will be to level up regional inequalities in the UK, and move us away from such a London-centric economy.

I don't suspect there'll be any fewer uber rich. But maybe opportunity will open up as we regain freedom to trade.

Me? I'm kinda glad I made the decision not to push to live to work. I see so many people in my two practices where the opposite is the case. Unfortunately the spiking of property prices in the West, and need to have two substantial incomes for any meaningful mortgage means even well paid couples are living to work.

Bob, there is always the other side of the story. At some point, enough becomes too much, and people change their behavior. They may not choose to work less, but it appears that they may choose to move so that they can retain more of the fruits of their labor.

California tax hike caused 'significant' out-migration of top-bracket millionaire residents, study shows
Out-migration eroded 45 percent of tax revenue gain from the reform, researchers said.

Some 20 years ago after having sold my first firm I came to the conclusion that work is overrated;)
And the pursuit for growth and more money kills the planet.
If you really want to be free you have to own nothing.
Plato said that some 2400 years ago.

Ron, rich people, taxes, ultra hi-end audio, business investments, hi-end audio dealers, musicians, orchestral composers, painters, real estate agents, stockbrokers, hedge fund managers, Facebook, Amazon, Twitter, Instagram, gold coin collectors, photography, museums, general arts and hobbies, car designers and manufacturers, architects, ...everything in life has zero to do with politics. Most politicians are crooks, bandits, mafiosi, liars, ego selfish, clowns, puppets, lazy, fake, ...you name it.

With that being said the emphasis here is the percentage of rich people living in California and the various sectors where their money come from, plus the amount of taxes they pay relative to their employees...the workers. That is all, purely and strictly financial.

I could care less about all that politic from hell driving people nuts all over our planet.
Those people are worthless, and we don't need them here in my money thread.

I hope I was clear enough with all due respect.
I say this because it's important to breathe without losing balance.

Marc, good point in regards to stress (work). It has to do with life's priorities.
What is work? A paycheck? About interests accumulating automatically in your bank accounts from all your smart investments and stocks? Then you can spend your time on the hobbies you like...Music listening, Movie watching, Book reading and writing, music playing, stamps collection, coin collection, watches collection, race driving, beach walking, wave surfing, photography, travelling, mountain hiking and biking, nature observation, wildlife connections, lovemaking, dining, meditating, writing, singing, dancing, ...living life happy and stress free in peace and away from violence and evil politicians and fake news and junk mail and email about Viagra and all that crap.
