Very much enjoying French reviewers take on the film.

I saw it yesterday and had a similar reaction - good not great. Battle and takeover scenes were very good; otherwise too much of the bumbling sex/love life

Saw it last week and it was not great but much better than most of the reviews I had read. It needed to be either edited shorter or released in an extended version that filled in many gaps.

seems to me that the new movies now all seem to be 2 1/2 to 3+ hours long

I'm not paying to see it. Phoenix even said he had no direction and that's clear. Historically foo foo. Bleh.

well my hope then is Maestro will rise too the top of the heap. I know many will disagree with me but the two best movies I have seen this year is
The Sound of Freedom
Killers of the Flower Moon. ....indeed it was way long but I thought it was perfectly told and acting superb as was the directing, editing and cinematography.

I was looking forward to Napoleon which I will definitely see and then there is Maestro which is already complaining about the nose given to Bradley Cooper. I didn't know that Cooper also directed Maestro. I think he definitely has directorial skill as shown in A Star is Born.
