I have used both 11 meter balanced (Antipodes Reference) and Unbalanced (Allnic ZL MU-7r). I had to switch when my OTL/OCL preamp required unbalanced cables. Both performed very well. Actually the unbalanced cables were quieter. Both cables well designed. The latter offered superior shielding (well, Antipodes had no shielding, and this was apparently needed in my situation--RF/EM radiation).

Any well designed cable would perform well regardless of XLR/RCA. Ideally if a true internal circuit design of components exists - go balanced. If not, go unbalanced and keep it the same throughout the signal path. Longer lengths with unbalanced cables can be very successful!

My own conclusion.
