From http://www.slashgear.com/comscore-samsung-and-apple-syphon-mobile-market-30259112/
This is a survey of market share of each mobile phone maker. These stats are the aggregate of three months (includes iPhone 5 launch) and was just released today.
- Samsung 26.3%
- Apple 17.8%
- LG 17.6%
- Motorola 11.0%
- HTC 6.0%
Note that the second largest Android manufacturer is only 0.2% behind Apple. Note also - that Apple buys parts from both Samsung and LG, which in turn buys nothing from Apple.
I predicted quite some time ago that Apple's closed, proprietary nature would see it lose market share and dwindle to a rump. We have seen this movie before - it is exactly why Apple is a bit player in the corporate world and desktop PC market and almost went under in the late 90's. Their greed and arrogance have cost them in the past, and will cost them again.
