Hello All,
Just wanted to say happy to be here.
I have visited a few times before but have not contributed much.
Unfortunately I have spent too much time on another forum where the rules stifled valid questions regarding audio equipment.
But allowed the continuous posting of soft porn by its administrator.

Hope to have something to contribute.

Best Regards,
Greg

Hi Greg has a great low cost (in hifi terms) ribbon magnetostat hybrid I like. Kind of like a Logan hybrid but Analysis/Apogee type ribbons and magnets on the panels instead of Stators.

His magnets are also high quality, maybe Greg can specifiy the technical details?

He also has two woofers in the panel, for midbass as well, and external crossver settings easily adjusted to suit a room.

Greg, you were trying transmission line subs as well?

Welcome to our forum Greg. It is great to have you here.

As a woodworker, I very much appreciated the special touch of using tiger maple on the sides of your loudspeakers:

Hi Bonzo75 good to hear from you again.
There have been a few changes since you heard the prototype GTA2.5.
Better sub amps Hypex DS4 , stronger magnets Neodymium N50 replaces the N45.
A few tweaks with the ribbon tweeter and full range planar panel.
All add up to a better balanced speaker.

I am sorry to say the T line project is on the back burner.
I have limited resources for R&D and put my energies and finances into developing the GTA 2.5 which is now finished and being produced.
I have gotten excellent online feedback from the latest show I did, Capital Audio fest 2015.

Thanks,
That pair uses Jatoba for the front face.
I came to the idea of contrasting woods from the customer that ordered that particular pair.
When I asked him what wood he wanted, he pretty much gave me carte blanche so I came up with this, which he loved.
I used it with contrasting Bubinga on my next pair which I exhibited at Capital Audio Fest 2015

I would be very interested in learning more about your speaker design

Sure Steve,
Its a hybrid design using a powered bass section consisting of twin 10" sub woofers powered by a Hypex 400 watt user adjustable sub amp.
The Planar magnetic and ribbon are my own design and manufacture. The planar driver is designed to operate full range without any electrical crossover or filtering of any kind. Directly connecting the driving amp to the speaker makes for a very coherent transparent and dynamic driver.
The ribbon uses a high quality series capacitor for a first order slope which blends seamlessly into the planar driver.
The speaker is rated at 90db and 4 ohms. It will go down to 24 hz. I have gone to great lengths to mate the bass to the planar for a coherent sound that is capable of excellent dynamics, transparency and resolution.
It will mate well with solid state or tubes of 35 watts to high power amps that will shake the room if so desired.
I have more ramblings and links to reviews on my web site.
Greg

Hello Greg and welcome!

I just read through your "Room Considerations" page and that's pretty much exactly what I've done. I'm still messing around a bit with placement as I've not had the time to focus all my time on it, but I'm close. Once done I will install the spikes onto the built-in outriggers of my Genesis G7's. I had to create a room in an unfinished basement and with a little thought and perhaps some ingenuity came up with the idea of building a wall of boxes. It helped in dividing the entire basement space into a small 11.5' x 16' area that I can actually call a room. While I don't have any measurement tools, I must say I rather like the sound I'm getting. The space isn't exactly very aesthetically pleasing, but it does what I need it to do.

If it sounds good turn the lights down and enjoy, dont worry about the asthetics

John, your room looks like mine did during the last few weeks. I moved my system out, along with thousands of LP's and took the walls down to the studs. We then replaced all the insulation with a higher grade product that offers more R value and is more absorbent;then replaced all the drywall with a much thicker and sturdier drywall to improve the acoustic properties of the room. I also installed a dedicated 20 amp line that was connected to a new panel via 10/2 single run isolated ground cable. Next, we trenched about 100+ feet to the street transformer ( this was a real pain, as it involved pulling up my driveway and also half of the street in front of my house...costly..:( ). We replaced all of the incoming cable with the new 400 amp capacity cable and replaced all connectors at the transformer with low-loss high corrosion resistance couplings. So, I have just about finished putting back the walls and my system. Therefore, i can commiserate with you as to the look of the room...:D
Now all you have to do is pull up your street and driveway and you will be there, LOL...;)

Just curious what site you are talking about?

I would say, but I am not sure it would be OK by the moderator of this forum, and would need permission first.
It's a very small mostly local forum..very little readership.
The admin there feels its his to do as he wishes, so be it, maybe that's why its going nowhere.

It sounds like you are talking about Audio Aficionardo.

Sounds like a forum moderated by someone well known to WBF.

Wayne PA....I had dealings with an audio dealer down your way in Willow Grove. Traded in a pair of Quad 63's and an ARC preamp.
Years ago, don't think they are still in business.

Must be Soundex. Long out of business. They had a store in Berwyn as well which was run by Terry Menacker now of Overture.
