Cool pictures. Yes, they are very nice people. I've recently placed a couple orders from AT and the boxes came packed with Japanese snacks.

I spoke with Imai a couple weeks ago about the single driver speakers. The SP-2116 and SP-8716 use different versions of the Diatone P610 driver. The SP-2116 is 8 ohm and the SP-8176 is 16 ohm. Also, ALE is apparently out of business and he can no longer get the ALE tweeter.

Is this carbon block a nice sounding material or chosen for its purported inertness?

It’s an interesting material. He uses it for the footers of the amps and preamps also. It’ll leave black marks on your hands if you touch it. I read somewhere that he invented the compound and sold it to one of the big Japanese corporations. Apparently it is used for parts of the bullet trains but they allow him to still use it in small batches for his audio business.

I’ll take some pictures when it’s all complete. Waiting on an arm board for the TechDAS and new speakers are in construction now.

Never heard your speakers but really like the looks and philosophy.

I noticed that somehow the cantilever of my MC-6310 was suddenly not straight. I got the cartridge to Imai and he fixed it for me, at no charge! He also turned it around in just a few days. Imai always responds to emails within 24hrs. Audio Tekne service is second to none. Has anyone ever seen the documentation you get with their electronics? Extremely detailed blueprints with measurements taken at all points. It's like nothing I have seen before from a manufacturer.
