An obviously appropriate thread title for the audiophile community

When I've first read the thread's title I thought it was about tonearm's length ...

That's the 50" version on the first post, for medium room sizes; they also have a smaller 32" version for "small" rooms (going down to 7 Hertz and with sustained 120 Decibels and powered by 6,000 Watts RMS plate amp): • https://www.soundandvision.com/content/you-call-sub-sub

But, they also have the larger 80" version for larger rooms ...

Wow, certainly high efficiency, idk about distortion. I wonder how much those big cones flex?

If LF output and extension are the topic Danley and the like get it done with normal 12-18" drivers in various horn loadings.

The 32" woofer driver has a 6.3-inch voice coil with an absolutely insane 3.5-inches of linear excursion, which the company claims is a cinema sub record.

The 50" driver must be more than that, and the 80" one even more.

* Was there a mention about 2-3 Hertz reach for the 50" driver.
The 80" one ... a fraction of one Hertz? That's not for music content, that's for Japanese movies watching ... Godzilla monsters flicks, and Hollywood Star-Trek sci-fi flicks...IMAX theaters.

Ah, I missed the 80" version. But the purpose of this thread is all about excesses in high end audio!

Does it come with seat belts and air bags? Will Fluffy the Cat survive?

how to really 'get down'?

it would seem that the Rotary subwoofer has more potential to move air. OTOH you do need to build it into your structure. so it would not have the 'ridiculous factor' of the mega cone, just get the job done much better.

me?

i'm entirely happy with my little old ( on-paper...... -3db at 7hz, -6db at 3hz ) twin 750 pound, 86" tall MM7 bass towers. in a musical context i think they fully cover the need. and speaking of music, the 97db efficient -4- 11" ceramic woofers (25hz-250hz) in each passive MM7 tower have much more musical significance than any subwoofer cone, rotary, etc......that is the power frequencies where the music lives. but it's not sexy to talk about or have the visual impact.

Nothing brings out the wagging like a subwoofer thread. i'll plaster myself with testosterone patches and get back later.

I wonder what Dad is going to do when junior rides his tricycle through one of those?

Which Magico? Q-Sub? Have you heard them? Impressions? What other subs have you heard? Most curious.

Don't know which one yet. I've heard the Q-15 and it was extremely linear, deep and powerful. I am thinking that one. I've heard the S-Subs briefly too in a store demo, not bad.
